    Now I see why you need the Centaurus, run it up at the end of the runway to create enough breeze to counteract the crosswind and thereby ensuring that you always land in to wind 😀

    So Janie, if you were to land at a show and all the crowd were to breathe out (or in) at the same time the the Emeraude would be out of limits then?

    On top of this Janie appears on Page 81, but it looks like somebody walked in front of the camera as the pic was taken.

    Yes I know this, which is why I must go home as I am somewhere else the following weekend and if I don’t go home I will be at Duxford and not somewhere else.

    I suppose that’s an interesting version of events Snapper. I will have to go home at some point as it’s unlikely that I shall be there the following week.

    Wouldn’t be the first time the mags have jumped on something to early that hasn’t ended up happening at the end of the day, as a matter of interest do we have any American’s on here that may have spotted this P38 at Chino recently (that was supposed to be where it was last spotted at least).

    That could be amusing, are you taking the Emeraude to Reno next year then? I guess you will be bolting some girders on to the aircraft to stop it twisting itself to bits 😀

    I remember Black 2 and Black 6 together over Duxford, a great sight, shame I have no photos of them anymore.

    I had the good fortune to speak with him on many occasions during the late 80’s and 90’s and found him to always be a friendly extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable person who as others have said always had the time to spend with others. I saw him fly on many occasions but one of the most enjoyable sights was to see him dog fighting with John Romain in a pair of Harvards, very interesting. I later had the pleasure of flying next to him in a Harvard whilst I was in the backseat of another Harvard.

    Four years pass so quickly.

    I looked at it ad thought, thats an interesting period photo. Oh well I suppose I should read more and work less this afternoon.

    I suppose it would depend on which way up the wheels are pointing when you land, if they are above the fin you may have a problem. 😀
