Must have been major work to convert it into a mk VIII and back again, anyone know how far the conversion got before it was reconverted?
This is interesting, I’d heard a rumour some years ago of a XIV being converted into a VIII, surely this would have taken a lot of work to do, anyone have any idea what would be involved?

Incidentally, someone was asking recently why Warbirds Worldwide folded. Lancman (sorry to point you out old chap) has unintentionally answered that – if you don’t buy it, it goes bust (eventually). If all the people who raved about WW actually bought the issues when they came out, rather than later, it’d probably still be going. Mags aren’t expensive chaps. (rant over)
Cheers
Well said James,
I subscribed constantly from issue 3 including special editions (having bought 1 & 2 from Airshow stands as they were released) and was constantly impressed with the magazine content. I was saddened when it ceased not only because I missed the publication but also for those who worked so hard to produce it.
A few years have gone by now and I guess there are a whole new bunch of enthusiasts who were maybe not interested in Warbirds at the time who have found the publication and are trying to build their collection up (and no you’re not having my collection).
Warbirds Worldwide is much missed.

OK Digby, I’m sorry, my new room isn’t ready since I moved.
Fair enough.
How does that work on a grass runway Digby?
Thanks for that, I’ve been looking for a copy of that for a little while.

I was going to include scrapping P51’s but the American matearial spec would fall far short of the standard to build Baby buggies never mind aircraft
That would explain a few things with one aircraft I know, a very fine machine it is though but not as good as the Norfolk based aircraft of the same type π

Maybe all the material has been recycled so as Spitfires and Mustangs can be rebuilt π π π
What if nobody bids?

No. I’m starting a “hug an engineer” campaign. A happy engineer produces a happy aeroplane.
Will you be having Damien as the oficial photographer for your ‘hug an engineer’ campaign??
So Janie, are you saying it’s entirely your fault?
I suppose it all depends on what other pressures are put on the hardworking engineers at TFC.
Hopefully sometime after the engine has been bolted on the front.
