That wasn’t the case with the Lightnings though, at one point there was a plan to test them in the UK and fly them to SA, but in the end they were dismantled and shipped.

If you’re looking for Janie at Duxford you’re looking in the wrong place. Duxford is still not the centre of the universe.

And no I’ve never claimed to have shot anyone, yet.

TDL were based in Lowestoft and used to advertise in Fly Past. I’m not sure what their machines were made from as I can’t say I’ve been close to one.

OK Snapper, here’s your mission this lunchtime. I always understood that the Spit was one of the TDL replicas Spits and the Harriers were held on behalf of a Belgian collector (are these not the ones that were on the UK register recently?)

We would probably have been in the Chelmsford area at that time so I guess thats how we missed her. Shame but I suppose I did get to see the Yak at Woodchurch the weekend before and it’s not as though I hadn’t seen it on many occasions in the past (every week for 10 years or so).

What time did Angie Soper come in with the Yak?

It was origionally rebuilt by Jean Frelaut to static condition after he rescued it from a scrap yard. It then passed to Doug Arnold who had the rebuild started which meant the airframe stripped to nothing and rebuilt. After his death it went into storeage before emerging briefly to Historic Flying (not sure if they did anything to the aircraft) and then on to Hawker Restorations for completion which is where all the problems were found.

If it’s not claimed Snapper perhaps you can put it into the raffle at the October gathering.
