Tempests, what Tempests? I heard that the others were in India being restored in an underground restoration shop for use as weapons of mass destruction, is that not true then?

As I understand it WoGB were involved with the Indian Tempests, no idea how many however. I would have thought it unlikely that some had been destroyed to prevent others from having them, however it may possibly be that the airframes were badly damaged or corroded and were then reduced to spares, I doubt we will ever really know for sure however.
NH238 is still about and is likely to be stored in a container.
