I bet it won’t like Ben****ers, a big sadly deserted airbase near Woodbridge.

I would have thought that would be unlikely, but there could be a load of old Tempests buried under the hanger.

The Yak11 is a very impressive display aeroplane in it’s own right, when flown well. It’s a shame they are overshadowed these days.

    Too true :p

I would imagine in all cases you have seen G-YCII. I’ve had the opportunity to get up close to this machine and it’s very nice, almost as good as G-IYAK.

That I’m afraid is the fault of the display organisers in the UK and somthing that I have been involved with for almost 14 years now. It would seem that the Yak 11 just isn’t sexy enough for display organisers to book on a regular basis. It’s a shame as if any of them had ever taken the time to watch a Yak 11 display they would realise it’s a cracking little machine.
As a matter of interest where else had you seen Yak’s accompanied by Mustangs?

A poor excuse if ever I heard one.

I think the Yakarrived in the UK from France in late 99 early 2000 ish, however I think then that it spent some time being overhauled before emerging on to the display scene.

There was an event on at Breighton I believe. As for which Yak 11 it was I would put money on it being Rob Davies G-YCII.

    What a lovely formation 😀

They flew over me in Norfolk just before midday on Saturday, so I guess were heading back when you saw them on Sunday. You should have kept a look out Willow, I’m sure you would have seen some other interesting stuff about.

They don’t disappear, you just need to know where to look.

    It sounds pretty interesting.

If whoever put it on before can put it on again, how long will we have before it vanishes once more??

Some old man flying a Sptfire far too low for his own good, spectacular footage where luckily nothing went wrong, one slight muscle twitch and it could have ended up as a spectacular hole in the floor.

Nowt there then that interests me that I won’t see at Woodchurch, good job I can’t get time off work (especially as my office window overlooks the end of Norwich airports runway.

Maybe at the request of the operators as I imagine the CAA would take a very dim view of those films.
