Not strictly true, Rob Davies has also flown them both. Steve, I suspect you saw them while they were overhead Thorpe Abbotts, I’ve got some pics somewhere.

    Taken from CAP553 Section A8-20

3.6.2 The accommodation shall include areas suitable for the study, preparation, and

I have posted my views before and agree pretty much with Bruce.
I think it is reasonable that the provenance and the extent to which an aircraft is new build is documented for future purchasers so that everyone knows what they are buying but we have to accept that nothing can be composed entirely of the original parts which left the factory decades ago.

If you want to fly it in the UK the restoration has to be fully documented in order to get it certified.

But there are some classic lines to be heard from the commentators, such as the 1944 Chipmunk that displayed at Sun n Fun and the combined 5400hp of the 4 Aeroshell T6’s as they took off. I was impressed.

OK, I see your point. Point I was getting at was that the Panton family own Just Jane and they are the ones funding the restoration.
It would be great to see the other types restored and one way or another this is happening with a number of them, however their retoration is being funded by their own owners.
If the government were funding this potential restoration then I’m with you, but as its a private owner contemplating the rebuild of their own machine then its a different matter (in my mind).

Why if all that money is spent on the Hampden restoration, getting a third Wellington on it’s feet, making sure substantial effort is being poured into the Whitley, Hornet, Boston, Stirlings, HP 0/400, HP42 etc. you name it. Then the whole thing would be more balanced.

    Just my view

    Cees

With the exception of the Hampden project (is that owned the the Panton family does anybody know??) I’ve never seen any of these at East Kirkby

Whatever the decision is I wish the owners the best of luck. I for one would love to see it in the air, the threads on this post seem to take it for granted that as PA474 is operated by the BBMF it will be around forever, one day however there may be a cut in funding….
Anyway, no matter what the feelings are on here its not our choice at the end of the day.
