Isn’t it a good job that we dont have all those RAF/USAF stations trying to put on shows during the summer as well, that really would muck things up…..

At least one of the people in that picture looks to be trying to work out how to get the clam doors off that Mustang….

Your choice C – but P-51 fuselages were not painted silver in WWII, they were bare metal 🙂 . If you paint it you are presenting it in a different way. Its the owners choice and privelage to do so but it is a bit of a retrograde step if the overall aim of the paint job is to present the aircraft authentically.

But then surely they shouldnt be polished so as they shine either?

There is always something a bit ‘fake’ about bare metal aircraft represented by silver painted ones (plenty of Mustangs fit this category)

We’d better keep them locked in the hangar then

Is it back in Belgium now? It was sitting outside at North Weald for a long time.

As for Len Perry, wasn’t he killed in an accident in Russia somewhere in the 90’s?

Big Beautiful Doll flew low over my home in Pettaugh, Suffolk on Saturday afternoon so may well have been source of Merlin noise earlier in the week.

Must have been quite an echo…. Sadly I had to work on Saturday (the only weekend day all year) so didn’t get to see the Doll….

Out of interest how many aircraft owe their current existence to the fact that they were restored by private owners who wanted something they could fly?
