I disagree, we would have far fewer warbirds around if they had not been rebuilt to fly. These machines were meant to fly, not sit around on the ground forever.
Nothing has ever been pranged just for some airshow, some have been pranged at an airshow but not for an airshow.
The restoration is being done by Maurice Hammond (?).
No its not, Maurice is rebuilding 44-13521. G-UAKE was kicking around the workshops once upon a time before Dave Kingshott owned it, it was last heard of with Phillip Warner.
At least one of the engineers has a jacket to match the paint scheme on the aircraft 😀

This one is always good for information, photos, variety and debate.
No worries, I was just getting the feeling that from some of the other posts people were leading you in strange directions without explaining the diference between the words…..
Well it looks to have at least one panel missing (between the wing, fuselage and engine) so I suspect a problem.
It is not a Yak 11… it may have been once but it certainly isnt now…. American engine, retractable tailwheel, too many prop blades and single seat canopy. I believe it calls itself a Yak 3UA.
That brings back some memories, must be at least 10 years ago now.
I just spend most of my spare time at Hardwick…
thanks for the Hardwick warbirds site link too, Yak-11 fan, not sure of the relevance, but always admired Mr Hammonds skill, anyway!!- shame there’s nothing about his current P-51D project though!:)
No relevance to the Seafire, very relevant to me however….
Hangers are things you put your clothes on, Hangars are things you put your aircraft in (tool boxes are things you put planes in).
Just found out that Ray Hanna had the same veiws as me about aircraft being based in the country they flew for 😎
James
Well he disguised it pretty well for a good number of years.
Allegedly a jigging problem with the first of a number of restoration shops involved with the rebuild of this machine.
But there is more to life than Legends… if the organisers dont want to do it there then maybe someone else might… Why does every discussion relating to Warbirds have to degenerate into as discussion about Flying Legends???? I admire the work that the team at TFC do and undoubtably they organise a good show each year, but then so do other people!!!!!
So the old Auster can now go on the PFA?? 😀
