Does MAM use some kind of foam fill in the tires to prevent the flat tire look? I think Newark did but I am not sure if it is common practice these days at museums?
I know that the Canadian Aviation had to replace lots of tires recently when they had to move many of airframes about…some needed tires badly!!
Can any of the airframes be moved? Larger ones I would think they are pretty much not moveable but are the others like the Meteor also not moveable?
I had a chance to visit MAM a few back and I still have great memories of the collection…
It seems that they have a great repaint program in place…and yes many museums could learn a few lessons on keeping their airframes in good nick…
Do you paint with a paint brush or/and roller?
A few of those Tutors do appear in above average condition…so I would guess that they were indoors last year….
One of those I would like!!
Andrew
Hey for those interested……16 of the CT-133 are up for sale with Lancaster Aviation.
Yes James
I photographed her in final Approach at YOW on Friday..a pretty rare sight indeed these days..very nice to see in use in these colours..
See picture of Tutor 144166 still alive and earning her keep 🙂
The T-bird are my favorites at MW..I was really hoping that they would one day find a civilian buyer not much seems to have materialized with them…
I really like those in the all Black Scheme..
Yes Mike..the commissioner on Sunday was quite chatty and friendly with us..he did stop to have a chat with me but pretty much left us on own to look about..
I was interested in looking in the Buffalo but I thought I was pushing my luck as it was…
I think I did see you at Carp..I was with the WIX lads…
It was a pretty good airshow..even if the fields were alittle wet…
Mountainview was very HOT temperature wise..
And a few more…
Had a great time at the airshow..meet up with some old and some new planes geeks..
Here are a few pictures that I took.
Luv that new Hurricane..very very nice indeed.
Thanks for sharing the pictures…Did you take any pictures of their comet cockpit section..I think I could see it in the background of one of your pictures…
Yes they do have plans to mount CF-100 Mk5 18752 (former CFB Uplands) outside the museum entrance…someday as funds and time perhaps..
She is currently still stored outside the new hangar. Hope one day to see freshed up abit and displayed in her Uplands Sqn colours…
I think the 100785 now on display at CWHM was the second to last flyer for the CF100’s arriving at the museum on 10 February, 1982.
Hope it doesn’t rain…weather has been very wet for the past couple of weeks in Ontario..
Peter,
Any idea as to how many are in use by the snowbird team at this moment…they must have at least one or two reserve aircraft for the team.
