Super shots on Airliners.net TJ
I guess I am sorta already using some of that technique with my 70-200 2.8 in that I am waiting at full 200mm for the approach or pass and then sometimes pull back to 150mm to keep in the aircraft in frame abit longer but I really like the detail that you are getting in the close ups when the aircraft is so tight in the image that if over laps the full frame…
The shoulder mount does sound like an excellent idea given the weight so longer as it does not get mistaken for a rocket launcher eh?
thanks for the feed back..
The lens retails for about $5K USD over here in Canada..how much do they go for in the UK?
Andrew
Quite amazing pictures TJ.
Does it take time getting used to a fixed lens vs a zoom type lens?
Andrew
That Voodoo at Mr. O Conner looks quite interesting….is that a recent photograph of it…?
Andrew
And that was my biggest concern with the mini airshow format….but I understand TC situation… and some of that atmosphere could still be there as it was at this year’s Vintage AirRally held at CAvM which was also mini airshow format…
Regardless I look forward to next year’s VWOC events whatever and wherever they may be….
Andrew
🙂
Mike,
I think I have that book I will have to take another look at again thanks..
Oshawaflyboy,
I think the Lindsay Voodoo is parked on a stick in the War Museum in Ottawa…and nicely repainted also..
Andrew
I sorta liked this open house format as it seemed less restrictive for photography etc….and a full blown airshow would mean that Transport Canada would be tighter with controls and asking for safety fencing and not allowing the aviation fans close to the active aircraft….just my thoughts…
Some very nice Pix K225
Andrew
Yes it would be interesting to see how the complete the cockpit would be..
What happened to the Voodoo’s when they were retired in 1984? Were they stored at Mountainview for a while before they were given to museums etc?
Peter,
Here is an older picture June 05 (early Digital Camera) shot of Cadet Voodoo…
The damage is on the edge of the wing..it looks like a metal spur in the picture and is sorta crushed…but me thinks this old girl don’t much TLC these days….
Mike,
Have you seen any repairs to # 101046 in recent years?
Andrew
Peter,
It would be CF-101B 57-0384 (CAF 101046) Now on display at Air Cadet Camp, CFB Trenton, Ontario as 101046.
Andrew
Yes it is a great event to meet up with fellow shutter bugs like us….
Andrew
I wondered how they got them in there….and the Cadet Voodoo has a nasty tear in the wing now..not sure when that happend but it looks like something backed into it with a truck or something..
Andrew
Glad you (Turretboy) enjoyed the event…too bad we did not close paths at event as I had a chance to meet quite a few of the gang from different online forums…
It was very well organized and attended…it is definately getting very popular with the aviation groups for sure…
Andrew
Sorry Steve but the pictures were removed as I ran over my allowance when it comes to posting pictures in the forum…
Andrew
I think VOC has their Hangar full already…but nice idea..
And they are just getting used to the Historical Jets “Hawk One”
What could be next “Clunk One” 🙂
Peter,
I am guessing those engines would be pretty rough in side…lot’s of birds nests etc…
But a nice thought or dream
Andrew
Do you remember if the Hamilton CF-100 on loan from CAvM still has engines in her…she would be a nice example to ground run? She has been indoors for quite a few years..
