RE: Victor under threat??
When did they lose their other Victor?
RE: Victor under threat??
With all the discussion about Markham Victor..what is the condition of the Cosford Victor K.2 XH672. Any hope of that one being moved under cover in the near future? Most of the pictures that I have since lately seem to indicate it looks alittle faded in places!
Has it ever been repainted since it was moved to Cosford? I had read that is disassembled and transported there by road.
RE: 767 gliding…….
I believe it was nicknamed the Gimli Glider..maybe a 767 Flight between Ottawa and Edmonton it ran out of fuel as mentioned before due to confusion with the metric and imperial measurements july 1983 landed on an old runway being used for auto racing at the time.
See picture.

RE: Brussels Museum – Battle
Does anyone has pictures of the ex- Strathallan Lancaster while it
was in his collection?
RE: Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum Dakota Question.
There was a small ad of the event in the Saturday Ottawa Citzen but it was pretty low profile.
Yes I did try to photograph the Lanc but I just didn’t quite manage to get a good shot of the bomber..the sun was not cooperating with me..
Here are a few.

RE: Trenton Halifax Pictures
Steve,
I remember visiting the museum a a few years back in the early stages of the restoration of the engines and I do believe they rebuild or restored much of what makes up the exhaust ring and brackets themselves. After sanding and cleaning most seem to be very pitted and they did require quite alot of patching up and pieceing back together inorder to appear uniform and authetic. And since it was not to be restored to running condition I am sure they were able to reuse many components that would normally have to recreated from new if it was to have been run again. Still it is amazing to see the engines in detail when you consider how long they have been under water. And once they are installed on the Halifax all of this will no longer be seen..hopefully an engine cowling might be left open for those to see the quality in the restoration. Now sure if this helps or not but I am glad that I am share these pictures with others and hopefully encourage others to visit.
RE: Trenton Halifax Pictures
The balance of the Trenton pictures. This Halifax is abit of a hard one to capture in pictures due it’s present location but still it gives you abit of an idea as to her process. Anyone know what plans they have with regards to how it will be sitting? Will it rest on it’s tires..if so what kind or will be have it’s undercarriage supported to take the weight of them. I know the airworthly Lanc’s use Lincoln wheels but not sure about this Halifax? What does Friday 13th use for wheels and tires(Hastings stuff?)

RE: Lancaster NX622 engine run
Thanks Peter..that’s pretty much what I had figured with regards to Greenwood’s Lancaster. Still it would make a good starting point for an excellent complete restoration project!
Lancaster KB839
On a different note but still Lancaster restoration related. I know that Greenwood’s Lancaster KB839 had donated it’s engines to CWHM’s Lancaster many years ago along with some other usable parts. I was wondering how much of the plane’s interior is left? Is the cockpit get gutted? have all the interior fitting been removed? It was repainted a few years ago and looks very nice in it’s post war colours but I don’t think any interior restoration was done at that time. A guess?
Just anyone have any information on this one. It also deserves to be kept uncover also…38 years outdoors and counting!
RE: Connie
Thanks for the info. I heard similar stories about The Dutch Connie’s future. At least it will be preserved. Apparently the Swiss Connie might set up to carry passengers. Any truth in this rumour? That would be a real treat!
RE: Connie
Hi,
Is the Dutch Connie to become part of the European Airshow circuit or will it become part of the static display at the Dutch Museum? It would be great to see it continue to fly for atleast few more years..she still kinda young
RE: One for lancman
Lancman,
Here is another Lancaster currently in “Airfix form”
FM104 at Toronto Aerospace Museum.

RE: Bruntingthorpe
Damien,
Looks like the Bruntingthorpe day was well worth the trip. Nice to see such a big turnout and many of the resident aircraft participating in fast runs. Did you happen to see any process of Sea Vixen XJ494 had been made? I have read that they are hoping to make her in a running/taxiing airframe also?
