    riat should move !!!

i keep saying and i really want it to be moved from fairford to cottemore as there is much more room and less traffic troubles also it needs lifting as it is a little quiet!!!!!!

it is also provides more security for the americans

i know people want it to be at fairford but really it is has a little more capibility and room for people and also displays

plus it will be much safer up at cottesmore when the olimpics arrive in london as it is based away form it all !!!!!

please who agrees with me !!!!

thanks for your comments please keep them coming

the harriers are being used fare to much in the last few years and now action has been taken to withdraw them from afganistan for a while which will leave them free for the next airshow season but the tornados dont look promising to be at airshows same as the hawks but we will find out soon !!]

the harries expected to be withdrawn i think will take place in september of this year

raf cottemore for riat (i say)

    what about 2001?
the raf cottemore which gave riat clear blue skies and the best display in years!!

plus less traffic troubles and better parking

it is also proven to be less of a security risk for the americans

i know the wet weather can effect any show any where but if it was here this year they would of not has to cancel.. plus think of the extra people who will turn up because it is central to everywhere in the uk insted of being south og the country !!

even if they do alternat years a year at each base so it works sort of like farnbrough but its on every year but alternat bases

I only went to RIAT at Fairford once, about 15 years ago.
I found it far too big, too far to travel within the airfield too much to see and a pain to get in and out of, though I was at least lucky enough to have been parked right on the crowdline.
I preffered it when they moved the show to Cottesmore for a year, it was more compact and more accesible.
I recall parking in a field though, whether the geology at Cottesmore is more suited to the weather, I wouldn’t like to say, aren’t both airfields situated on the ridge of stone that runs diagonally across the country, ie: Ancaster and Cotswold.
With all those redundant aircraft sitting on the airfield at Fairford this morning, a bit of a morning flyby at Legends would have been a nice gesture.

i say it was better at raf cottesmore because less rain over cottesmore’s area and its less traffic and parking trouble at raf cottemore than fairford plus not long ques

    move the venue

i think it should be moved from fairford to RAF cottesmore where it is more central to the country so more people can attend from the north and east and it will be less likely to flood 😀

well when it was held at RAF cottesmore in 2000 and 2001 there were more people attending than fairfor had ever had. but i know 2000 was a bit cloudy but 2001 was just blue skies and the display was the best

so i say it should move to RAF cottesmore

    🙂

    fairford cancelled

well it was a shame that the year when riat was the best ever had to be cancelled but i think that it should be held at raf cottesmore because when it was here in 200 and 2001 there was more people who attend that what fairford ever got before pluse the base is central in the uk so its a fare distance from north, south, east and west plus it would not have been called this year because we had no rain !!!!

so i say either they should change every year for example
    cottesmore,fairford,cottesmore etc

or be based at raf cottesmore 🙂

    but thats my choice

    GREAT PICS

they are great pics you taken here. the raptor ones are brilliant…

good job i found out it was cancelled on the night before i spent 3 hrs on the road for nothing but oh well next year should be bigger because they want to attract more people to get the money back they lost this year 🙂
