nah he was going for a flying a lesson , took the plane and just crashed it. a costie chopper tailed him but it wouldn’t down a plane unless it had stingers or aim9 (costies don’t) like the israelis did recently to a similar plane.

i spent all the holiday on the net doing very little homework (doing loads to night). i’m possible thinking of putting up a small aviation web site on the net but now i’m back at school it will be a level maths non stop (till half term – 4 1/2 weeks to go 😀 ).

welcome class to the rabie web tutorial 😀 😀 😀 😀

i use a lot callled free net name that gave me a .co.uk adress , and 20mb. all i do i use them as my isp when i update my site (costs are local rate). unfortuntely this deal was too good and they stopped offering it about a year ago. this is great as there are no add at all on my site.

i think there is another lot offering free .co.uk addresses but you get a bar across the top.

i use freeserve as my main isp and they give 30mb and i’m using this to extend my .co.uk site.

for a smaller site yahoo is IMHO the best as you get 5mb a simple URl (http://www.geocities.com/youryahooemailadress) , and this can be used very simpley (no messing with FTP like i do). have a look at http://www.geocities.com/skythe_99/ for a perfet example.

for making the site i use dreamweaver which is very good but could be dificult to use. word is really awkward but i think frontpage express was the simplest and good. i’m not a frontapage person (tried once) but a lot of people use it.

philo will have to set up photo galleries properly and i’m not a real expert at that but with iages you need peole yo see previwes before they click on the big one of that aircraft. probalbe quite simple to do though i’ve not tried.

    any questions just ask

vice versa here. i’ve been runing my motobike club’s website since march 2000 and had been lanning it on and off since autumn 1999. i self taught my self it all and started off with word 1997. i progressed to word 2000, frontpage express and now i’m on dreamweaver. my site is quite big now and i would say i know quite a bit but there is still miles to go.

what i’ve found is that pictures of big files size take a long time to download and can make the veiwer unitrested and bored. however you can still get your image across to the visiter by shriking the quality slighty. i use the program i got with my scanner but i suspose other must do this. all i do is reduce the “size” number down and the file size of the pic decreases, and if you guess the right number the quality stays preety good as well. this way the pic downlaods to the viewer quickly and they see what was origional intened.

the above looks and sounds complicated but is really simple.

if you want to do it but can’t yourself i’ll have a go if you want.

conversly i wouldn’t ahve the first idea about rebuilding planes so don’t worry.

Some of our resident photo experts might get it first time – i think i know the answers from what people have said except the 3 single tailed twin engine plane one (noone on afm could say for sure).

    nice site.

the only thing i’ld change would be the image file sizes as IMHO a little too long to download, so the vewer could if on a dial up conection spend a time waiting for the pics before moving on which probable looses their intrest.

good site though , keep up the good work

    RE: Aircraft crash at Birmingham

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/uk/england/newsid_1742000/1742404.stm

    Five die in jet crash

Five Americans are dead after the private jet they were in crashed during take-off at Birmingham International Airport.
The aircraft was registered with agricultural equipment giant AGCO Corporation which has its head office in Georgia, USA.

The company also owns an 1,800-employee UK plant in Banner Lane, Coventry.

Initial reports said the twin-engined nine-seater Canadair Challenger clipped its wings on the ground during take-off.

It is believed to have been bound for Bangor in Maine, USA.

Fire crews based at the airport were on the scene within a minute after the crash, which happened at 1207 GMT on Friday.

Initially, it was confirmed that four people had died and a fifth was missing.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said later the remaining person had been found dead.

Eyewitness Joan Hood, who lives near the airport, said: “We heard a muffled explosion and went out into the front of the house and saw a black plume of acrid smoke about 100 feet high.

“The smoke was very thick and our house still smells of it now.”

Gordon Stretch, who was driving into the airport’s long stay car park at the time of the crash, added: “I could see an aircraft had crashed in the centre of the airfield.

“It was surrounded by firefighters who put the fire out within minutes.

“I spoke to one or two people who saw the crash and apparently the plane rolled over to the left just as it took off.

“It is now lying inverted on the centre of the airfield near the fire station.

“The plane is in two parts with the wings and undercarriage in the air. It is a complete burnt out wreck.”

    Flights diverted

The airport has been closed and an exclusion zone is in place in the skies above.

Flights destined for Birmingham are being redirected to East Midlands Airport, Manchester Airport and Coventry Airport.

Tony Caruso, manager of Bangor Aviation Services, confirmed on Friday the plane had been scheduled to arrive at the airport between 1800 GMT and 1900 GMT.

He added the aircraft was due to be refuelled and go through customs controls before going on to its destination in the United States, which he said he did not know.

“We just found out as we arrived this morning for work. It’s very sad.”

Steve Evans, from West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: “I understand the private aircraft left the departure runway.

“Some witnesses said, and we have had reports, that there was a ball of flames.”

The Department of Transport said that members of the Air Accidents Investigation Branch were on their way to the crash scene.

“There will be full investigation followed by an AAIB report in due course,” a department spokesman said.

In a statement, the Rt Rev Mark Santer, Bishop of Birmingham, described the “This is tragic news at the beginning of a new year.

“We commend those who have died to the mercy of God,” he went on.

“We also think of those members of the emergency services who are dealing with the devastation and the trauma they will suffer.

“We value our airport and its excellent safety record.”
