Thanks for the reply but what about a Lancaster navigator, i thought he did not need a chart board as he had a dedicated table with a fixed rule on a pantograph arm or am i wrong ?
Hi John
I forgot to ask do you any spare FN5 or FN150 turret rings for sale ?
i would also like to say i am sorry that you are having to part with such a fantastic collection its a shame it never materialised into a cockpit………….ballturret
Hi John
For some reason i cant send you a PM? could drop me a line many thanks balturret.
Hi atb/72 I think I have sent you a pm but not really sure ?
Hi 12Jaguar I could very well be interested in the FN4 turret ring as I have the remains of a FN82 rear turret which is missing its rotation ring , the accommodation base and the cupola and it would not surprise me if the FN4 ring is the same size .
If possible could you send a PM , many thanks
Thanks to both of you with the information provided ,hopefully I can get an accurate match ?
Has any body got a spare FN5 turret ring kicking about ?
Hi Hawker 1966
I am trying to help a friend to restore a D type turret and as you can see from the photo its not to healthy so I know he would be intrested in any parts to help its restoration .the other photo is of a D type that’s on display at RAF Cosford hopefully this will answer your question with regard to the origin of your door?
looking for parts for a Sperry A-1 upper turret have you any thing kicking about especially one of the hand controls as per picture ?
Thanks NX611 if I have no luck in the next few months and if I am in the area I will pop in with my tape measure! Also thanks to every one else for their kind remarks and suggestions.
Thanks every one that’s brilliant!
As far as I know they came out of a scrap yard many years ago but as to what aircraft they were fitted to I have no idea? I presumed they were from a Lancaster or Halifax?
Hi Al
No problem about getting back to me we all get computer problems at some point. Your right about the bracket it is steel and that’s whats thrown me but if you think about it your FN5 turret mount was steel with alloy castings at the ends. I do know for sure its not of a BP D type as a mate of mine has one, so I will look into the BP type E turret to see what that looks like.
Hi Andy , I have just had a look and its a type 233.
I found the Rebecca monitor at a local car boot sale only a couple of weeks ago along with this unit which I think is a Rebecca H or Monica or are they the same unit?
I`m not a radio wiz kid so I think I will try to make it look externally complete, also is this aerial part of Rebecca or monica?
Thanks Andy and every body else that’s brilliant , I suppose I will have to find a TR3173 now! ……………just to complete the jigsaw puzzle.
The picture of the Rebecca unit might be in an American aircraft as the angle poise lamp looks like the same type that’s fitted in B17s?
