The internal diameter of the turret ring is 34 .2 inch ,from the bottom of the arch that carries the rotating service joint to the underside of the joint equals 25 7/8 inch plus 2 3/4 inch will take you to the point that you require.
I will post the actual size and thickness of the turret inner ring within the next couple of days…………..I hope this is of some help?

wanted FN5 and FN50 parts

Can any of you turret fans help in the location of a FN5 and a FN50 turret rings .I have managed to obtain enough parts recreate both of these turrets , although most of these parts have been dug out of a dump they are slowly coming to life once again with a o lot of patience ,oil , sharp chisel and a big hammer!

Just need the rings now to bolt them onto , failing that has any one got the internal diameter of these rings?

Nearly forgot a quick message to turret boy ,i managed to locate a trigger assembly so i can now make a pattern to have new ones made ,thanks again…..colin:love-struck:

I have had this sperry A1-B turret from a B17 Flying Fortress for over twenty five years and this is as far as i have got , surely there must be parts for this turret kicking around?
I would even consider crash site or scrap yard condition items ,so if any one out there can help , please make contact……TA!

Heres a couple more pictures of turret parts , as you can i`ve already restored one of the control grips ,unfortunately both sets are missing the thum rest and triggers!
The other two items came of the mid upper turret vertical support frames but again what are they for?
The unit in the middle is a valve which still works and the other should have a piece of tube going vertically through it with a spring fixed inbetween the casting.
The last two pictures are of the FN5 rotary coupling , just to the right you can see the remains of the support frame that i have removed , should the cross section of this be a fold square edge U section with a half round recess rolled into it?……………..

Looks like the fitting fastened inside the tail of the aircraft near the rear turret.

Any ideas as to what turret this hydraulic accumulator is of?
