Or taking it to the extreme, high-pressure gas bottles (e.g Oxygen, etc) has to be declared as dangerous cargo….hahaha
There is a good reason though. IIRC in the late 80’s or early 90’s a plane departing from a south eastern Florida airport, maybe MIA, crashed because mis-labeled oxygen containers caused and explosion in the cargo hold. Sorry I dont remember the details exactly but it went down over the Everglades causing many problems for recovery/rescue.
Very good news. I cant wait to see them when they start their services to TPA in late October.
Yes they still exist, just last summer on Air Canada from YYZ-LHR they came around with them. Quite nice touch really.
Sorry, forgot to add that this was in Coach class.
Good report. Hope the baggage handler is going to be alright and that you have a good time in Florida.
I am very impressed. Now all I have to do is get a DSLR and get down to SYD for the summer. All things aside, I am happy that airports of that class are taking care of us spotters.
Lovely shots. The Emb 190 and 346 are wonderful machines. Your skills with the camera are brilliant, good work.
Wow, they are all stunners. Fantastic work Tony.
The best thing that ever happened to Boeing was Airbus’s appearance in the 80’s. Now the best thing that has happened to Airbus is Boeing’s resurgence in the early 2000’s.
Exactly wys, well said.
Honestly I would enjoy a photography forum. I always find myself in the A.net and dpreview.com photography forums, just as an observer, and I think it would be good to discuss the topic here. I am at the odd point right now where I do not have access to a SLR but I am doing all the research and study I can before I can gain more knowledge from hands-on experience.
The only thing that needs to be looked at is the sheer demand for the sub-forum. Is there enough demand for it at present time? But, one could argue that starting the forum would promote more discussion. I would be for it. But, maybe a vote should be taken across the entire Key forums. Any other ideas or opinions?
Just a side note, as Flood said we also might want to consider what to do considering Kev35’s step down.
Anyway, I am looking forward to any improvments in our forums.
Well, as many have said it is not built to be beautiful, but in my opinion it has its own type of beauty. The beauty is in the engineering, design, and hard work that went into it. I also might say that the situation and way the scene is captured that makes a difference. When I see the 380, I can only imagine a head on photo of a powerful lift-off from one the world’s great airports for photography, like AMS, SYD, or CDG 🙂 Again I am only expressing my opinion based on pure esthetics.
Very nice work Nasir.
I agree with tenthije on the 747. The way it stays with the countour of the top of the fuselage, the way it stop at the forward end, and the point where it curves up into the tail could be played with abit. I love the use of the grey, or is it silver, on the fuselage. Maybe you could consider doing the engine covers in a different way, or perhaps add the logo to them. The only question I have is if the red you used is based from the current livery. Anyway, I think you did some good work.
If history repeats,
The B777 was built on target and exceeded the performance figures by approx 2%. The A340-600 was overweight, and has been plagued by problems. It therefore is no surprise that now we here the A380 is overweight.
Yes, I have always been impressed by Boeing when they contiually exceed their performance figures. Especially with the 773ER, and hopefully with the 772LR. But about the A346, the main issue was with the wing. So with the A380 I believe the main problem is with the fuselage. Could this change how the problems are delt with and what solutions are found?
… which is exactly why the job of the airline pilots are far less respected by most people and is why flying is no longer a dream nor is it exciting.
Well said…
The refining of the A380 will take place over the next few years as they test, certify, and hand it over to the airlines. So, I am not surprised about these issues, but I hoped that the weight would not be this big a issue. From what I have read, the fuselage (mainly) and the wings are the largest problems. But, these are the heaviest components anyway so most of the improvent can be made here. Also, weight has been added by the engines that have been modified (for sound and emmisions) and now the prospect of interior fittings is adding another burden. But can aerodynamics cancel out these problems. I honestly dont know. Also, some possible things that may happen, and I have been hearing this, is that all of the test frames will be overweight and possibly the first one that is delivered to SQ. This did not make sense to me, but that is just speculation. Suposedly, all frames after that will have a weight that meets specifications. So this means that problems are being found and the soulutions can not be implemented until later frams enter production. All I can do is speculate and share things I have read. Any other information?
Not a good sight indeed, but the older birds still know how to fly…
