I work in aviation and it has been 3yrs since I have enjoyed a pay rise of any type, and due to the nature of our operation no staff travel perks are available to us. However we do get 2 free standby tickets a year with a certain friendly airline. In all fairness our owners and other senior managers have taken no pay increases for the last 3yrs either. Our company does not have bonuses and they have had no new company cars for the last 4 yrs. Like the cabin crew involved in this strike no one holds a gun to my head to do the job and I’m free to move on if the job is no longer suitable or paying enough.

Your second sentence certainly establishes your credentials as being anti-Zionist and by many Jews as anti-Jewish, I would have thought. As you say our perspectives are very different and, for the record, I deplore any form of nationalism , be it Zionist, Arab, Islamist or any other so I hold no brief for either side.

A very well balanced reply. BTW I am an atheist and as such cannot understand these beliefs that lead to so much bigotry, discrimination and wasting of lives in pursuit of utopian ideals. In most if not all cases the manifestation of these beliefs fly in the face of the teachings of the religeons that spawned them in the first place. And yes, I do acknowledge that the ‘state’ of Israel and its Zionists are not alone in inflicting much harm and misery on others in the name of their beliefs. May a ‘supreme entity’ have mercy on them all.

Er, no, I can’t. I can see a small nation with an outsized military capability in relation to its population and no natural resources surrounded by tens of millions of inimical people backed by varying degrees of military strength and raw material wealth.

Then we both have very different perceptions of the situation. All I can see is a nation founded by a group of people motivated by a dubious ‘historical’ sentiment for the founding of the ‘state’ of Israel. And this based on unsubstantiated Zionist theories, beliefs and superstition. The country is sustained on revenue mainly from vested interests and sympathisers in the U.S and would implode without that money and the subsidised arms that come with it. Nobody in the region invited the Zionists to set up the ‘state’ and in so doing dispossesing the Palestinian people the right to their homeland. Not to mention the right of the other countries of the region to live in peace and security. Therefore I trust that you’ll understand why I shed no tears for the ‘state’ of Israel.

Obama’s supine attitude to Iran has exacerbated the problem for Israel. I am no fervent supporter of either Israel or the Palestinians and their paymasters, but I’m pretty sure how I would feel if I was an Israeli. I am making no excuses but trying to see the worls from theur perspective. And it does not look very friendly.

So I’m sure you’ll quite understand the view from where Iran sits and how the world looks from their perspective and that of the other countries in the region.

The ‘state of Israel’ has broken more UN resolutions than any other UN member country, some 55 in all. (source Salam+Shalom) This must be borne in mind when defending the Zionists. I am not for one moment supporting the actions of the ‘terror’ groups running around the Middle East at the present time, although it could be argued that the western world has the ‘terror’ groups and the Middle East it deserves due to its constant support and encouragement of double standards in its dealings with other rogue states . Please don’t use the scenario of the Zionists staging of what it perceives as ‘democratic’ practices to justify their lamentable regard for the basic human rights of others. As far as I’m concerned that doesn’t wash. The lamentable human rights violations that the Zionists have committed are fuel to the fire of the very same ‘terrorists’ that it professes to be opposed to. Its very easy to condemn the policies of these ‘terror’ groups ie; PLO, Hamas etc, whilst forgetting the very reasons why they have been spawned in the first place. They and the Palestinians perceive the world through very different eyes to those of us in the west. Very few of us I suspect can imagine suffering the destruction of your nations culture and way of life as the Palestinians have done. It makes it impossible for us to understand the desperation and hopelessness that drives the young people of this nation to ending their own lives in attacks against the entity that took their homeland away from them whilst most countries of the western world did nothing. Anyone on this forum has the right to hold a different point of view to mine and to be a supporter of the Zionist ‘state’, but as I have said already said most of us have never experienced the Palestinian phenomenon, and hopefully never will. It must fall to the international community as a whole to bring the Zionists to heel and to ensure that the Zionists award to others the very rights that they enjoy at the very great expense of others in the region.
