And at the same time they are the only airline that will offer you 1p flights. You don’t have to put up with ryanairs prices. 😉
Ah if only it was a 1p flight;) Last year 4 of us travelled to MAD, 2 of us flew with Iberia and the other 2 with Ryanair. What was amusing, well for us, was that our fare on the full service carrier was £50 cheaper rtn than theirs was. OK I know that we had to ‘suffer’ the benefits of a full breakfast plus a free newspaper, assigned seating etc and we could take a little more than a clean pair of briefs and a toothbrush for no extra charge. Still our 2 friends did manage to make a shared fizzy drink last the Ryanair flight.
Indeed we don’t have to put up with Ryanairs prices….so I don’t. Shop around for good fares on those ‘nasty’ old full service carriers and you WILL find them:)
That DVD is fantastic….don’t miss getting it if you see one. My first flight on a Caravelle was an 11R of Transeuropa from STN to PMI. A few years later I flew on a Sterling 10B from ARN to STN, in another life I used to ramp and loadsheet these wonderful craft, a true design classic and typically French I guess. It brings to mind a poster I once saw in a Citroen car dealership many years ago showing an Air France Caravelle with a Citroen DS19 car alongside, I would love a copy of that now.:)
A great shame. Not often you see an NG 737 in this kind of accident.
I take your point but I would suggest that the way it was phrased it could be literally taken both ways. The use of the word “greatest” still implies the potential to have been the greatest ever. And I would respectfully defer from that opinion of John Smith, fine man and principled politician though he was.
And I respect your right to defer from that opinion and I stand by mine with apologies for the ambiguity which was not my intention. GA, appreciate the input.

The first part of your diatribe could have been lifted from the 1960s, so utterely out of date is it.
Political activists always forget that if they want power they have to bend to the electorate, because without their support the power will be unachievable.
So, Blair, clever political animal that he is, but loathsome in all other respects, saw that labout would NEVER be elected unless it changed its spots. He knew the Tories werre a busted flush by 1997 and were easily beatable, as long as he couild tap into enough of their core vote to swing it his way. The rest is history, as they say.
Now Cameron is doing exactly the same as Blair had to do and, with luck, the vistory might be his. And the irony is that if they lose Labour will probably revert to their unelectable roots, or at best be riven between left and right, much as the Tories were for 10 years.
Thank you for so eloquently describing my reply as a diatribe. You are of course entitled to your view. BTW it was John Smith, the greatest Prime Minister we never had, that made Labour electable and personally I had much admiration for him. He was a very principled man.

I hate to say it, but in my humble opinion Labour appear to be the only party to vote for.
The lesser of two evils one might say.The Torries will only make sure that the rich fat cats get fatter and richer and we working class people will suffer for it. More so than we would under another Labour government.
And Labour didn’t ? I was a Labour activist for more than 25yrs right from the age of 18 and I’m afraid that now I would not p**s on them if they were on fire! I detest the Tories but say what you like about them, they have never pretended to be anything other than what they are and always have been…defenders come hell and high water of those who have much more than enough….as you so rightly put it…the fat cats! Labour have ditched their core values, ideology and principles at the expense of their core support. That clown Blair obtained his “victories ” as a wolf wearing sheep’s clothing, the Party that I once loved and admired is now heading for a well deserved defeat….a crying shame 🙁

at least you guys have a chance to make some choices, wish we had !
Yeah, a choice between one group of sleazy, self serving hypocrites and the rest. I shall be out of the UK on “polling” day and that suits me fine!

These are wonderful shots, I keep going back for another look. Thanks for posting.
Back to the original topic, I would hope even the most ardent A380 fan would agree by this point that the service entry has been somewhat of a disappointment, especially when one considers the 2 extra years Airbus had to perfect the airplane because of the program delays. And they STILL haven’t sold any more…..and now the Airbus leaders are even acknowledging publicly that the program is in trouble financially and that it will be years before the program breaks even. What an abomination!
Well not quite an abomination, the skies are littered with aircraft more deserving of that title than the A380. I seem to remember another very large capacity wide body being plagued by problems of many kinds back in the late 60s……..it happens.;)
It’s called ‘Can’t see any further than the end of your nose’ These crews seem very determined to see the hand that feeds them wither and die. A great shame for them and the companies attempting to employ them.
Comforting to know that some LH staff have the same suicidal attitude to the long term survival of their airline as our BA chums.
