It’s good news for aviation generally. At least someone is expanding instead of folding!

Quite agree and good to see another flag carrier going for the A380!:D

I am very sad to hear this news. Back in the 80s I used to work Sterling Caravelle, 727-200, and DC8-63 flights thru Stansted many times per week. Along with a/s Conair, Scanair and Linjeflyg crews the Sterling guys and gals were some of the finest crews around, very sad indeed.:(

At that time Balkan Bulgarian were using the Tu134A, Tu154B and also the Ilyushin IL18 on IT services from the UK. I was a Traffic Officer/Load Controller at Stansted then, and we used to see all of these on services to both Bourgas and Varna in the summer and ski flight services to Sofia in the winter season. The type was always determined by the booked loads at the time. Sometimes we would only have confirmation of the type we were going to get when the departure signal from Sofia operations came through, which would only gave us around 3 hours to match the load planning to the aircraft type that was coming. I used to look foreward to the apple juice that the cabin chief always offered to us on the turnround:)

Very nice work Jamie! Especially the XL and the Flybe. The European arm of XL is unaffected by the collapse, if that is right perhaps the XL A330s will still be about.

As usual great pics. Love to see an MD anywhere and that Etihad livery looks good on any type, can’t wait to see their A380s!

Yes, and your spelling is spot on.

Thanx for that! I was still at school in 1973 when we visited, what a place and worth every penny. I think that the planes were a little different then:)
