Very sad news:( I love “The Golden Girls” and make a point of catching the programmes when I can, some great one liners in each episode. RIP and Thanks Estelle for some very happy TV comedy memories!

While the motivation for the Soviets was a bit different.

Possibly true, however the outcome was a very efficient aircraft for its day with a fantastic range and what a beauty to look at:)

Its no more or less than I would expect of Ryanair or the “other one”. Ryanair trumpets loud about giving people the right to fly……..just so long as its with them!!:diablo:

    Hi guys

RR, according to this week’s issue of Flight International, suggested the A400M engine for a quad civilian turboprop. Looking at the MTO of the A400M one should be able to build something like the A310 (230 seats, 8000 km range) with it. Or a 150 seater with two of them. This could IMO revolutionise the industry – or rather help keep it alive in the face of ever rising fuel costs

    what do people think?

    cheers

    Bernhard

A grand idea! As pioneered by the Soviets with the Tu114 back in the 50s.
I guess what comes around goes around!!;)

Radio 5 Live are reporting that the EU have just agreed to outlaw the misleading advertising of fares. Airlines will have to advertise the total fare to be paid including ALL charges and fees.

About bloody time! These “airlines” are my pet hate. I’ve never flown with Ryanair, Easyjet or any of the other so called low cost carriers and never will, I’d rather walk. Get off it guys! Carping about credit card fees against the fares that these so called low cost airlines are charging you is a bit rich IMO. Just take these unrealistic and heavily subsidised fares while you still can and spare a thought for the airline staff that have lost their jobs and decent salaries over the years that these “wonderful airlines” have been around. Was I one of them? Yes I was, but I was lucky enough to be able to rebuild my aviation career again, many very good people have not been so fortunate. Nothing personal…..Rant over:mad:

No doubt about it, this guy has got to go and soon. I agree that it is the African nations that hold the key to getting rid of one of the most odious regimes in modern times. Kenya has already floated the idea of an armed intervention against Mugabe and his henchmen. The western democracies should funnel both financial and military/material assistance to help the nations in the region to achieve this aim, it will be in their long term interest to see Mugabe consigned to the wastebasket of history and give the Zimbabwean people the chance of a viable and prosperous future or at the very least the right to vote for whom they please without being beaten to a pulp for it. High time also that Air Zimbabwe flights to and from the EU were banned as they are a cash cow for the regimes hard currency reserves and we all know where that cash ends up, I seem to remember other airlines over the years being banned for far less:mad:

Paul, I wonder if that 727 is an ex Sterling machine, if so then I have definitely loadsheeted it in the 80s at Stansted. 🙂 Steve love that IL62!

Actually, even the Russian airlines dislike their own aircraft, despite import taxes.

Not all of them do Schorsch……and even a Lada will get you there Steve:)

Now we know! That would explain why MK’s two 707’s were parked here last year. Are they still there?

I think they only operate the DC8-62F along with the 747. But I’m not sure and am ready to be told otherwise. I used to “ramp” MK DC8-62Fs at STN, they were the cleanest and smartest freighters you’d ever see.:)
