I seem to recall many many years ago, that China built a plane by Reverse engineering (If thats the right term) a Boeing 707…
I stand to be corrected
No need to be corrected, you are quite right they did although size wise it had more in common with the Boeing 720B. China also has a lot of experience building large airframes in the shape of the Tupolev Tu16 Badger bomber and also more recently a large 4 turboprop maritime defence amphibious type similar in looks to the Japanese Shin Miewa.
Looks like the 787 entry into service might soon be taking another hit!

Really, it couldn’t happen to a nicer airplane!!! :p 😀 :diablo:
Andy
No maybe not, but a good lesson here for the PR depts of both Boeing and AI to keep the propaganda dogs on a tighter leash in future:(
This is the main problem. Every product they make is of the most appalling quality. Sure, it’s cheap and it looks good…you can put a micrometer on it and it will be bang on, but the raw materials used are lacking in every respect. Why, you can get a screwdriver made in China that will last for at least two dozen screws.
Hmmm, well EMBRAER don’t seem to have any complaints about the quality of the Chinese built variants of their regional jets and I gather that Airbus are happy with the Chinese originating products that they are using, so it may be generalising a little too much to say that every product they make is appalling.
Leaving that aside this will be an interesting development for the industry and all the more ironic in that the great rush to sell the Chinese everything with wings on over the last couple of decades has surely spurred this outcome on. Who knows, maybe Boeing and Airbus will be competing to be major sub contractors for the Chinese a few years from now!:D
Thanks for the info Ivan, I had not seen anything about this. Very good news for the Tupolev enterprise. Maybe in not too distant future we’ll see moves by Iran Air to sort out replacements for the 747, Il96s perhaps or maybe some sort of deal with Airbus:)
Great images! My first trip in a plane when I was 6 years old was a British United Bristol 170 Freighter from Southend to Ostend with our family car, a Citroen DS19 making the trip with us. Thanx for the clip!
Interesting pics. More of a replacement for the Tu154s in the fleet rather than the IL62s I suspect. Nice to see that the original livery is retained. I was once told by an avionics engineer, who used to work on the Air Koryo/CAAK IL62s on rotation through Berlin Schonefeld, that those aircraft had fewer hours on them than even the rarely operated Govt/VIP IL62s of the GDR/LSK, so they will be good for a few more years yet!
Great videos. The Baade 152 is one of my favourite jets, I have a lovely book all about it and its designer Prof. B.Baade who was a senior in the Junkers company in WW2. He later continued his work under the Soviets designing a jet bomber for them which looked remarkedly like the 152. I also have a 1/72 scale model of the plane obtained from a company in France in the prototype livery, I would love to have seen one for real. According to the book the 152 was under consideration by Tarom, LOT, CAAV and DLH which eventually became Interflug.
Haven’t got rid of all of them, I frequently see them on the 15 route through Central London, I think they’re used on another route as well. Much prefer the more modern doubledeckers, more comfy and at least they have security cameras so the drivers knows what’s going on upstairs
I stand corrected, glad some are still around!

I agree! The Routemaster was an ageless masterpiece but they were not just in red, I used to go to school on green Routemasters operated by Greenline and then London Country. This was in the Hertford/Hatfield area in the mid 70s. One version we used to see had doors on the rear platform area and nicer seating with flourescent lighting instead of the usual bulbs on the red RMs. I was told that LT got rid of them due to escalating maintenance costs….sad to see them go:(

I’m not pro-Airbus/anti-Boeing in particular. Its just devine retribution for all those pro-Boeing folks who so bashed Airbus over the A380! :diablo:
Andy
Devine indeed…..but then I’m not as unbiased as you:p
She is a beautiful machine……but I guess I am biased! Great images Thanx:)
Great shots….really like that first CVT pic!:)
Nothing wrong with those. More anytime please!:)
