Does anyone have clarification on the subsidies allegedly being offered to the non-US partners involved with the 7E7 programme?? I don’t despise any manufacturer but I just thought I’d ask.

Sorry Comet but ramming housebricks into peoples skulls solves nothing! But thats not to say I disagree with your sentiments. As I posted on a similar thread, the BA management have to stay firm on this one, I also stated, as T5 has here, that no one in this industry is forced to stay put. What we are seeing here is the manifestation of the effect that LoCo carriers have had on the airline and handling industry as a whole, driving down the pay and conditions of ground staff throughout the industry. It led to me being made redundant twice in 6 Months! and there have been many, many more like me. These unions and the staff involved have to get real here. BA and a few other full sevice carriers are only now beginning to turn the tide, in my opinion its pure suicide to be even contemplating this action now. I think that these unions are wontonly mis-leading their members and could very well be in the process of escorting their members out of jobs. IF THERE ARE ANY BA GROUND STAFF MEMBERS ON THIS FORUM-FOR GOODNESS SAKE THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU’RE DOING! It won’t be your Union reps that lose their jobs and you will playing directly into the hands of the LoCo moguls in bringing BA to its knees and thereby driving things down further. My sympathies go out to the poor old traveller…you know..the sucker who buys the tickets and pays the wages, I have sympathy too with the staff, but now is not the time, and if things are really that bad then do as I did and move on!

High time these BA people learned that this is a very poor time for anyone in our industry to stage a strike. I don’t think that anyone in BA is poorly paid, and if anyone thinks that they are then they are as free as the rest of us in aviation to MOVE ON! The management should stand their ground on this one and best the GMB/TGWU wises up before they end up escorting their BA membership out of jobs, Think about it people, thank your lucky stars, you could be working for the likes of Ryanair, Geeez!

Ok guys,” reverse thrust and spoilers deployed” lets cool down there’s a good thread being wrecked here……………As I said in another thread we can all shout the odds ref the upcoming 7E7 and A380 but as neither exist in full form yet its all tentative. mongu has to have the right to make his comments as I suspect he’s flown more often and in more types than any of us, Sandy you have to give credit where its due, his info has to carry some weight in comparing the Airbus and Boeing products concerned from the passengers perspective. I welcome input on the 777 as I have never flown on the type although I have sampled the A330. Right I’m off me soapbox-see y’all!

A lovely looking machine, yes Sandy I did say a lovely looking machine, even though its not an Airbus and credit where its due. And like Airbuses they’ll be around for years yet! Thankfully.

A very sad affair for the friends and relatives if its proven that there was a cover up. Lets hope that if a cover up is proven that someone will make a very rare gesture these days and actually take responsibility and apologise to all concerned. Personally I have to admit that I had not heard of this until now.

Sandy, I think you are being too hard on Prodi. The EU will oppose this, but if Berlusconi smells political fallout over the demise of Alitalia then he could well “railroad” this through despite the consequences for Italy already outlined here. As I hinted earlier, this is a strange position for a Govt. of this ilk to take but as history shows, in this kind of scenario, ideological correctness always plays second fiddle to political survival

I don’t think for a moment that the EU Commission will stand for that and I would expect to see a very stern response from them shortly. All the more strange this as the current Italian Govt. is one of those loony right wing free market “Stalinists” types so beloved in certain quarters! Ooops could be straying into another forums waters here!
