Serious question……Why Albanian Airlines? Modern “western” aircraft, good crews, decent maintenance (in the “west” I believe!) sound investment. I don’t get it.
Sad news.
Who needs a.net with you guys taking shots as good as these…Well done mate, all worth seeing. That Air Jamaica is just awsome. More on request? Lets go!
Nice pix kev…Good to see the Aer lingus 146, I spent many hours “loadsheeting” those when they used to operate from STN. As you know the Aer Lingus 146s will soon all be gone.
Hey man don’t get me wrong..I don’t begrudge you or anyone else making good use of the LoCos and those fares while they last. I enjoyed a 20yr aviation career along with the perk of staff travel fares while doing so, although on many occasions I used bucket shops for great fares on well known carriers which sometimes worked out better than staff travel deals. I don’t think that the demise of LoCos will stop people flying again as you suggest, people have got used to the idea these days and I think that in the post LoCo era the legacy left to the established carriers will be fare levels that will be keyed to the demand that, by and large, will still be there. I still think that these fares are on the whole unsustainable. The new, and in my view, overdue passenger protection regimes and the inevitable coming increases in fuel prices will bring about a major re-adjustment in so called LoCo fares. As a good friend who still holds a senior position in a major LoCo airline once said to me “If the King of Saudi Arabia gets out of bed the wrong side tomorrow then we are all f+*#-*!” Is that a long lasting and sensible foundation for this great industry to stand on? Personally I don’t think so.
I always thought that Olympic would have looked great on the 757. Any of our talented artists out there fancy the challenge??
Done! Lets save the beast!!
Thanks Purser/Hand….I did’nt know about the car ploy or the CV situation. Mike 1087 make the most of the LoCo scene, I don’t see it lasting my friend. I rest my case!
Aeroflot did the same thing with their “western” aircraft did’nt they?
Great pics Andrew….Love the PIA!
Its a good livery but I quite like the new Britannia/TUI colours and one of my real favs is the old Icelandair scheme.
Typical BAA I’m afraid…..Having worked along side them for many years this mentality about the Concorde situation does’nt surprise me. I think that a fundemental error was made during the privatisation process in that the major London airports should have been sold off as seperate units and really made to compete with each other, In my opinion this would have been better news for the airlines and passengers driven to pay the BAAs extortionate fees and for the enthusiasts who along with the airlines fare much better at non BAA airports. MAN and EMA deserve medals. No matter what they claim, the BAA is NOT spotter friendly it hasn’t been for many years, its now far more concerned with cramming more retail outlets into its terminals. We used to joke at STN that the BAA was considering putting yet more shops onto the disused taxy ways and running shuttle buses to get to them…..But a decent viewing area….you’ve more chance of plaitting fog!
Nice pics! I really like that new NWA livery, I’m sure its an A319 though.
Great news Kabir! Some AI 747 pics would be nice please.
Ren………Some serious competition here!! Great pics.
