Yes mongu….I forgot Air Canada and maybe a US order is more in the medium term as well. I don’t know what you think but I have a feeling that the BA total won’t be huge.
Saab, You’ll like the place, its less “frantic ” than the south and I guess less developed although I have been to the south as well and really enjoyed it. Just a footnote…..When the flights first started from STN we were never allowed to use Ercan in the boarding calls, we had to use the phrase ” To Istanbul and onwards” ( Sounds like a B movie title!) I don’t know if thats still the case. Political reasons apparently.
Yup, there are more than two but I was referring to the one in the pic.
I also think that JAL is a very likely candidate for the A380. There have been rumours for some time of Japanese interest in a high density domestic version a la 747SR seating around 900 pax! Look out too for interest from Air China. I still think that there will be more orders yet from cargo carriers and would’nt rule out UPS. Once the 380 has settled into service I would’nt be at all surprised to see an order from a US passenger carrier and I still beleive, as I have for a long time, that BA will be an eventual operator.
I’m pretty sure that this BBJ a/c is one of two sold to the US military by the Ford Motor Co. and they were based at STN. These have been replaced by two ex Braathens machines. I guess that these now perform a VIP transport role.
Saab..I have flown on the same route but from STN on the KTHY A310. It was a good trip, the catering and crew were great although we suffered a long ATC delay outbound. The aircraft was clean and tidy but with a little of that “been around the block a few times” feel. All in all, a lovely ride…enjoy.
Possibly route familiarisation trip? That happened to me a couple of years back when I flew in a TAP Air Portugal A340 from LHR to LIS. At least that was what the Purser told me. I think that there was all of about 60 to 70 pax on board.
I don’t see why New York should get a look in for one at all. Have we all forgotten the “We don’t want your SST here” movement when Concorde entered service? I certainly havn’t. And I’m sure that alot of that goes down to the fact that the US SST programme was a dismal failure. Washington has an allocated Concorde, so I think that ought to suffice
ATA are a regular caller at Mildenhall using both 757 and Tristar aircraft. Recently saw one sporting a “Visit Hawaii” livery-seemed very out of place in a military environment!
Great swap Andrew. I like the SP and the Iran Air livery, very nice models.
Far from it kabir…..I know many many people in the industry and outside even, who would be sad to see it go
Come on guys! How on earth can you call the Air India livery dull? In the current sea of white “lineless” fuselages and daft graphics the Air India livery is a work of art…..Geeeeez!
I agree, the old “Red Ellipse” livery was vastly superior. Apparently the little red dot symbolises the line that, quote “I want to fly Jat Airways period” unquote. Still at least they are having a go-I guess.
Duo………..graphic boredom!
Straight into the foreward galley/preparation area! Very convenient.
