Not sure if I’m getting overly sensitive in my older age or what, but I found the news footage of the burning and exploding wreckage almost as it happened, a bit distasteful. The handling of the burnt hulk and turning over of the remains of the airframe just after 19 souls were killed seemed odd as well.
RIP to all on board.
No, I don’t think you are getting sensitive in your old age, I felt much the same as you on seeing those pics. I would have thought that the wreckage should have remained untouched until an investigative team had arrived. Maybe things are done differently in Nepal.
Some very nice and unusual pics. I really like those 96s.
What a variety! I think that I like the Sky livery the best. It was onboard a Transeuropa Caravelle back in the mid 70s, that I last visited PMI. Back then, the ramp was populated by more Caravelles, along with a ‘sprinkling’ of Cv990s, BAC 1-11s, Dc9s, Boeing 720s and DC8s, yes it really was a long time ago.;)
Just been watching about it on Sky News. The Do228 has a quite a good safety record from what I can gather, although some of those Nepalese mountainous airports, make operations in that region very risky at times, although the airport in question was not one of those. The fact that it happened so close to the airport, and the quite high number of witnesses, will hopefully mean a fairly quick answer as to why this happened. Condolences to all concerned:(
Does anyone know if Nesma operates to the UK, or is it just maintenance.
I hadn’t thought of that, but I suspect it’s unlikely.

High time that a judgement of this kind was made, and I for one, back the judge 100% The very idea that innocent victims of a crime like this, should be arrested for daring to protect what is theirs, is a farce. Congrats Judge Peart, for standing up for these innocent victims, and many like them. I wish that there were more Judges like him, and so I suspect, do thousands of others.

Brilliant airmanship on the part of the Syrianair pilots. Very sad for the heli crew and their loved ones. As if they don’t have enough problems over there at the moment:(
Some great pics. Especially the Egyptair 737. Not that I’m in any way biased:)
Great pics. I really like the Nesma livery.
Absolutely priceless:):)

Those are some very eerie sounds. One in particular reminds me of a visit to a town called Tuscaloosa in Alabama. It was my first ever trip to the US, and it was to visit a lifelong friend, who had emigrated from the UK a couple of years earlier. Whilst there, I heard the tornado sirens more than once, and they were very un-nerving, and certainly unsettled this first time visitor from rural Cambridgeshire. Despite some terrible wind and rain during my stay, there were no actual tornados in the area. However, about 18 months ago, the town of Tuscaloosa, bore the brunt of one of the biggest tornados ever recorded in that area. When it struck, my friend was on her way home from work, and took shelter in a roadside diner. A great many people perished that day, and according to my friend, the scars there are still very real. So I guess it’s thank God for sirens, however ‘eerie’ they might sound.
