Some really great shots! I really like the EI Retro 320.

I believe that ANA do in fact, operate 22 A320s at the present time. Japan has never been fertile territory for AI, and I don’t think that’ll change anytime soon, and Israel likewise, although I suspect that’s for different reasons altogether.

Great pics, I really like the SP. I heard this one on my scanner yesterday.

They certainly won’t have helped. IMO, this has more to do with worldwide demand for this type of aircraft plateauing. Boeing don’t seem to be having much more luck with their 747-8 at the present time. Personally, I think that the demand for VLAs will improve, but slowly.

Don’t get me started on this.

It really is time we sorted out ‘end of life’ properly and addressed the need for a system to help those who wish to slip away rather than have their ‘life’ dragged out for as long as possible to realise that aim.

This subject is very relevant to both my family, and myself. My youngest brother is just 35yrs old. Just over a year ago, he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, which is always terminal. His deterioration has sped up over the last few months, and the spectre of the ‘end game’ is looming large. Quite how any individual copes after being given news like this, I can’t imagine. Like some Cancers, MND is always fatal, even the medical experts cannot give a sufferer any idea of how much life they may have left. I’ll not go into specifics here, but MND is a terrible way to go. Until recent times, I have not really had any strong views on the euthanasia issue, but I certainly do today. Contemplating helping a loved one to die with dignity, is a very sobering thought indeed, but what the hell do you do if asked by someone you love, to do just that. I would like to add that my brother has not made any request for such help, but I live in fear that one day he might. Sorry guys, I did not mean to hijack the thread, but Moggy’s comments really hit home for me.

A great idea for a thread. The little things that do it for me are:

A phone call or email from her indoors
Having my nose gently ‘pawed’ by my cat first thing in the morning.
The sound of a Thrush after the rain has stopped
A big bowl of Shreddies for breakfast, ice cold milk and too much sugar of course
A cup of Yorkshire Tea at any time of day.
Home made ‘Her Indoors’ Rock Cakes
My little nephew running up the garden path, arms outstretched for a cuddle
The two of us on a summers evening walk.
80s pop on my iPod, re living my misspent, motorcycle dominated youth!

WRT Western Europe, the “why not” would be the massive taxation on persons and corporations to support a social welfare system that is clearly unsustainable and might even be said to be on the verge of collapse.

If Boeing were ever to assemble in Europe, my guess is that the plant would be somewhere in Eastern Europe. Even that is a long shot IMHO.

I was referring to the principle, as opposed to the mechanics of it. But I do agree that perhaps one of the East European states would probably be a favourite location. As for your piece about collapsing welfare systems etc, I know very little of that stuff, so I’ll bow to your superior knowledge about that kind of thing, I just like aeroplanes;)

Yes, I agree with you there. I’ve always preferred the DC10 to the Tristar. I think that Biman still fly them to the Gulf states, but maybe that’s not so now.
