A damn good spectacle! I found the part where the deserving carried the Olympic flag into the stadium particularly emotional. Well done all!:)

He was an important figure in looking out for himself and his ilk, and that’s all. I’m always amazed that anyone can see anything decent in the man. A most depressing creature at best.

What galls me the most, is if we all ran our household finances with the same ‘accumen’ as these banks, we’d all be out on the street. Still, the Govt would be there to bail us out……….they would……..wouldn’t they??

I’ll not argue with you at all. I guess Fox News must have been too busy to see him today, although I hear that he’s very much admired by them.

    Re 22

The best outcome for the Ian Tomlinson case should be as follows:

His family are successful in their civil prosecution and win significant compensation.
His assailant is discharged from the Police with ignominy and NO PENSION

    John Green

    Very well put sir.

I used to work flights operated by both Atlantic and Channel Express with the Electra thru STN. It would be nice to know the fate of ‘FC. Being within a few feet of one of these beasts, with ‘all 4 turning’ is unforgettable.

I concur with what other members here, have already said. I was aghast when the verdict was announced, and my heart goes out to the victims family. It would be very interesting to know, what was said by the jury members during their deliberation. Personally, I’m at a loss to understand their decision, it would also be interesting to know what the two ‘dissenters’ reasons were, for not going along with the other ten. But of course, we will never know that, and rightly so. I sincerely hope that the family will be successful in their fight for justice, in what seems to me to have been a gross miscarriage of the same. IMO there are some big issues highlighted by this debacle, that the Police force concerned needs to address urgently. Its also easy sometimes, to forget that there are vast numbers of good, honest and courageous officers in the Police force, who face many dangers every day on our behalf. I certainly wouldn’t want to do it.
