I am located just south of Cambridge. Last night, at around midnight as I was about to turn out the lights, I heard a very noisy, high flying turboprop. According to trusty Flightradar24, it was an An12 belonging to an outfit called Rubystar, it was at FL300, and beginning to decend. It was heading northwest at this time. I wonder if your pic is that same aircraft, and that it was heading to BHX all along. On checking the displayed route on FR24, it showed it coming onto the radar overhead Klagenfurt Austria, but of course, that may not have been its place of departure. I had not heard such a noisy, high flying turboprop before. Maybe this is my mystery solved:)
I have a lot of very happy teenage memories, that have been triggered by this sad news. They were happy days, and the Bee Gees were an intricate part of them.
Rest in Peace my friend:(

Well, can’t say I’m surprised. I know its a Fox News report, but on checking with other more reputable news agencies, on this occasion, their report appears to be pretty accurate.

Again, brilliant pics. That Iberia has been in the sun too long, me thinks;)
Some very nice shots there Robert. I really like that Somon Air livery. That Korean 380 is certainly a ‘blue eyeful’:)
As ever Keith, top notch shots there! I really like that Arik livery, also nice to see the F70. For me, it fulfils the role of a modern day Caravelle….and I stress modern day. Nothing will ever come close to the beauty and elegence of the original, not even my beloved Gulfs;)
Some very good shots. Must have been strange to have been there with no Malevs in sight:( I hope that the Malev preserved airliners will be looked after.
A nice set of pics. My favourite being the Syrian A320.
Same here. Nice, if slightly sad pics.
Saw that Kallita at Mildenhall AB yesterday! Good pics all round:)
Guilty as charged:) I never get bored of looking at Gulfs. I was very lucky recently, when I got a very nice 1/48 model of a Gulf V, chuffed as little mint balls with that. Thanks for posting the pic:)
30 tons of cigarettes? Crazy.
Does the IL76 sound different with the new engines?
Nice shots! Good catch with the B732 aswell!
I’ve had one over my house a few times, at around 3,000 or so, and it did sound considerably quieter and has a distinctly different sound to its predecessor. Shame though, I always liked that distinctive ‘whine’ of the earlier versions.
I have a lady friend who used to work for Channel Airways. Mostly on Viscounts, and then 1-11s. With STN having been ‘my’ local airport for donkeys years, Channel was very much a part of my budding interest in cicil aviation. I can remember my Dad taking me to STN, on a day when it was possible for the public to tour the interior of one of their Tridents. There may well have been another aircraft open too, but I can’t be sure, a 1-11 perhaps? I agree with your views about Arnie, one of the old school.
