One of the nicer ‘modern’ liveries. Looks great on an A340.

G.A. Stated when the Post Census was closed, quote”I remember a time when we used to have interesting and stimulating discussions in here” end quote.
I know there have been times when things have got out of hand, but being a Newby on this forum I cannot comment on the postings that G.A. was referring to. Perchance they were in the distant past, and topics in general have moved on.
So, to try and get something of interest on here, I was wondering if we could share our thoughts on the following.Considering the National Debt is as high as it is, would you sell off some of our National assets to help clear the debt sooner?.

    Lincoln .7

What have we got left? A very sizeable amount was sold off by another government, in another time.;)

Went on a staff ‘freebie’ there one Sunday, from STN, courtesy of SAS with a DC9-40. The landing was in driving snow, no problem for those SAS folks. The return that evening, was on a Sterling Caravelle 10B. Did a similar day trip to Arlanda, on a Scanair DC8-63. Return to STN, was onboard a Transwede MD80.
Happy days:) Great pics. Nice to see that SAS ‘mad dog’.

They’re all as bad as each other. It could well be that come the Liberal conference in the autumn, Clegg will be about as popular with the rank and file, as a rattlesnake in a lucky dip:diablo:

I absolutely disagree with that, the census has long been a very important periodic log of what the make up our country and those living within it consists of, something we can pride ourselves on since the Doomsday Book of 1086 and the modern census of the past 210 years.
This is how we statistically know how mixed our population is, and lets not forget, immensely helpful for those of us that enjoy doing family trees and researching this country’s past.
I do think it is worth spending money on, but perhaps a little too much has been spent on presentation, management, etc on what should only be a form or two.

Hopefully Tornado’s friend (he did say 99%?!) will recieve the full penalty.

As Is your right to do so. Be proud if you wish. I don’t have the time (or the money) to worry about family trees. But then again, it’s your own time and money, and therefore none of my business. As far as I’m concerned, whats gone is gone. I’m having enough hassle trying to keep body and soul together in the present. Is the census worth spending money on? If we had it to waste, then I might grudgingly agree with you, but we are repeatedly being told that there is none! Strangely enough though, there always seems to be enough for ‘projects’ like this. No offence intended sir, enjoy that census form;)

IMO, a colossal waste of taxpayers money, and a bloody good excuse for the ministry of the interior to have another good snoop on the population. As if it needs to.

That’s just fantastic! I really like the look of that. Apologies to our younger members, but the liveries were better then.;) I used to like seeing this livery on the 1-11s and the 737s at LHR in that scheme, I think we saw a 747 once, can’t be sure of that. Attention ‘sage’s’ does anyone here know if EI ever put a 747 into LHR?…Much obliged I’m sure.

Caledonian was sold by BA ….to Inspirations who later became became part of the Thomas Cook group in 1999 when Caledonian Airways was merged with the Flying Colours airline to form JMC Air Services, which in turn became the UK arm of the present day Thomas Cook Airlines. So who owns the Caledonian name??

Now there’s a livery I liked…Flying Colours. Wonder who, if anyone, owns the Court label?

Can you imagine an ATR or a SAAB 340/2000 in Autair colours?

On the whole, I like it. However, I live in the Radio Cambridgeshire area, but I prefer the presenters and programmes from neighbouring Three Counties Radio. Thankfully Three Counties ‘booms’ in as loud and clear as the other one.

Very good coverage at this time on NHK World TV, Sky channel 516.

    Also live here:

Not surprisingly the link is not stable.

May our thoughts be with these people.
