And if there is a discussion thread, it gets drowned out sooner or later by photo threads. People who stop off for a quick look to see whats happened see only the photos and little discussion and head off again

Sandy is fair to say there were plenty of major threads with alot of discussion on that wasn’t simply flame wars or the like in the past. I still believe there has simply been no attempt to post any major discussion threads. It’s easier to sit back and complain about the photo threads.

But do you consider endless “cool pics” replies as a discussion? I don’t.

I agree with you there as I think everyone else will.

Maybe as a whole we could use the pic threads to promote better discussion, maybe we could ask more questions about the pictures, instead of a quick two word appraisal ?

Well I’m all up for that but I fear no-one would ask any questions mainly because they already know the answer!

I think the way foreward is to think what can be posted as discussion, for example SkyEurope started their BHX route this week. I could of posted that but didn’t because I just thought no-one would answer it. It may well of been the case that we owuld of got into a big debate about SkyEurope!

At the same time I don’t want the pages dominated by ‘Manchester News 3’ and similer threads.

Yes, but consider the possibility that people who stumble across this forum may be put off posting by the large anount of photo only threads ? They may take the view that this is indeed a forum for airport photographers and not also a discussion forum ?

True but this still goes back to the original argument I put foreward that no members actually post anything for people to discuss? quite frankly take the photo threads out and this forum would be alot quieter. In the end if we want to give off the impression that this is a discussion forum maybe we as members should post topics that we can discuss and new members will want to sign up and join in.

Quite frankly people can only discuss things if news has come up or a major event has happened or anything like that, the fact is there is and always has been plenty of opportunity to post news or discussion subjects but people don’t! either because there isn’t any worth posting or people, put it simply can’t be arsed.
I don’t think it’s fair to critisise the number of photo threads when no-one else has posted anything ‘discussion’ worthy for the people who don’t want to view the photo threads.

Flew a United Airlines Boeing 747-200

Looks like a B744 to me :p 😉 , great selection anyway 🙂 .

Here’s my latest edition as I kept FS04 running over night for this, Air India B772 ‘Kalyani’ over the numbers of RWY 24R at YYZ operating the closing stages of (a very delayed!) flight AI 187 from Birmingham, Delhi and Amritsar. A long day.

Great selections from everyone.

Here’s G-BYAB climbing out of Varna’s RWY 9 heading back to the UK, it amazes me how some downloaded aircraft such as this can be so frame-rate friendy but when you use others such as iDFG your computer has a heart attack! Enjoy :D.

so i applaud the mods for letting the thread go, until it became silly,and pulling it.
have patience guys,the mods clearly are on top of the situation,and WILL do the right thing.

We all have a different idea of what the right thing is though ;).
