Hi AM
If you can post a photo of one of the stamps on the quadrant i could give that a go also.
Im pretty sure that could be identified as there are some experts on the American stuff, im sure Ian would vouch for that.
Will do i will stick it on now, bet i get in trouble for not showing photos of the stamps, all though you have made them clear.
Here goes.
Hi AM
I’m happy to post this item on the factory stamps page, just let me know when you would like me to give it a go.
Dare i say it but Facebook does have a good feedback when posting, especially certain sites, but this forum has always been my first port of call even now i visit daily hoping that the tide may turn.
Great to know your still around Ian and as you rightly say the likes of AM would be sorely missed along with many others i could mention if they decide to pull the plug on key.
But where else do you go? sadly there is nothing in comparison in regards to historic aviation. (well formerly anyway)
Like Ian says we cant even get together at he odd jumble, Key certainly isnt helping but its not to say one day you just never know,
We live in hope.
Sorry for the thread drift
Is this B29 as cant seem to match the side cockpit glazing, looks pretty close
Have to agree Whitney sometimes when posting i feel its a bit of a lost cause nowadays sadly.
Well done Air Ministry looks a good match at least we know yours is some kind of bomb release quadrant and American, dare I say it I could post on the Facebook factory stamps page, or was you going to keep trying as all part of the fun I guess.
Hi Air ministry
I think you have to be invited to the page.
It Is a great page for helping to identify aircraft parts and relics, as it is all about factory stamps, each part that you post must have a part number, there is an abundance of knowledge from home and overseas a bit like this forum use to be.
There are other forumites that also use this page.
In regards to my quadrant I did see that it has 3 levers but was thinking it may of been an earlier or later variant, but now seeing yours it looks like it may be from another American aircraft variant, or like if was said an earlier D version.
below are some of the replies I had from the stamps page
B-24.
Had parts of the same you have.
Not sure what it was though.
32 = B-24
F = Fuselage.
My part was GK32F, as it was built by Ford.
B-24 release levers
Bradley Day Might be an earlier D version
32F1086: Mount – Bomb control handle. Used up to B-24s C/N 2434 (Consolidated) and 295 (Ford). Replaced by 32F7524.
From the flight manual of the B-24. Seems to be that this quadrant is missing on most war birds and museum aircraft. Btw. Pos. 108.
Hi AM
Here is the photo of mine in situ
if you would like to scroll down on the factory stamps Facebook page around August the 24th you can see the research
cheers Brad
Hi AM
In regards to your post at 17-36 hours I have this relic that is very similar, it is from a Consolidated Liberator and is what I am told is a bomb release quadrant I have an image of it somewhere in situ.
Sad news indeed as one of my favourite jumbles on the ever decreasing circuit
But i guess it was inevitable
Fingers crossed that we can have a new date within the near future
Hi Rocketeer
Did you get any further on researching the Junkers control yoke firing button that you posted some time back? as I have just obtained one also, the seller states that it was from a JU88c nightfighter that was from NJG1.
Would anyone have a photo of this gun button in use?
Many thanks
Hi
A couple of images of my D type turret rear door
Hi ballturret
Thank you for the two photos they are very much appreciated, i have the right hand door as you look at it, once i can work out how to send images i will send a couple of photos of mine of which is made of wood.
Would you be able to confirm the aircraft variants that the D type fitted?
Also good luck with your project as im pretty sure the D type is extremely rare and would be great to see another one restored.
Hi
Just bumping up this thread
Would anyone have anything else to add in regards to the Boulton Paul D type rear gun turret, ie photos along aircraft variants, it has been mentioned above that the likes of the Avro Lincoln, Halifax B V11s, Lancaster V11s , Shackleton Mr1 were fitted with the D type.
Would anyone have any images to back this up? the reason being i have a rear turret door that i would like to see in situ, if not it may be a visit to Cosford as the D type turret there appears to have both turret doors fitted.
Many thanks in advance
