The owner has requested that there is no publicity about the project, so you will just have to be patient!
When they taxied back they shut down on the Squadron taxiway so everyone could get a close look. Thanks to everyone who took time to come along.

It was a very busy day for those of us working in the Tower, with 190 movements to deal with. One was an L4 Cub visiting from Biggin Hill, which provided a nice counterpoint to all the jet activity.

Gnat 3-ship
The afternoon had the three Gnats departing in a formation take-off with the Strikemaster acting as a camera ship. Its callsign was ‘Kodak’. It took off first so it could run in as the Gnats were taking off.

The formation returned for several passes smoke-on

They finished with a couple of low passes down the runway

Gnat Display Team Open Day Saturday 25 October
The Gnat Display Team were lucky to have a decent day on Saturday after so much bad weather and high winds. G-MOUR and the Strikemaster were positioned near the Squadron when the OPen Day began.

G-RORI went out for a local sortie during the morning

The Jet Provost Mark 3, G-BKOU, also did a sortie for circuit consolidation followed by a first solo on type

Apologies for a lack of updates recently. This one goes back to Thursday 1 May! It was on that day that the Gnat Display Team’s latest restoration project arrived in a container from the USA – a single seat ex-Indian Air Force Gnat F1. Last Saturday they held their Open Day at North Weald and the Sabre Killer project was formally launched, so the pictures can now be posted. Work has already started on getting it back into the air before all the winter maintenance kicks in.

Thursday 18 September
The Huey went out for a short local flight.

The Skyraider returned from Benson.

Sunday 14 September Lancasters
A lot of people who were turned away from Duxford came down to North Weald instead. We gave a minibus load of Air Cadets a trip up the Tower and an Airfield tour. They were also fortunate to see the two Lancaster transit through on their way to Duxford. It’s the third time we have been lucky enough to see them, and we got a closer look than anyone at Duxford too!.

Saturday 13 September Spitfire
The Hangar 11 Spitfire was out at White Waltham for a display too.

Saturday 13 September Gnats
Two of our Gnats were out displaying at Duxford.

A quick turn around and they went out a second time for a formation display with the Vulcan.

Chris Heames had flown a Jet Provost in, and departed later.

Brendan O’Brien, who used to be based with us then did his crazy flying routine and trailer landings.

The BBMF Hurricane and Spitfire then arrived. There had been a problem with the Hurricane, so there slot was delayed by over an hour.

At the end of the afternoon the Aerostars returned from displaying elsewhere and kindly gave us a short routine with their Yak 50s.

Air Display Sunday 7 Se[ptemverl
We had a small airshow as part of our Community Day. The Norwegian Vampire FB52 started things off.

It was then joined by our Hunter T7, which had been displaying at Shuttleworth, then came in to land.

The Hunter then dis its own solo routine.

Saturday 6 September
The Norwegian Vampire did a display practice today ready for our Community Day on Sunday 7 September.

Entry is only £5. See the ad in Flypast!
Sunday 31 August
The Hunter was displayed at Shoreham on Sunday by Chris Heames.

The C-47 ‘Drag-em-Oot’ gave us a nice low pass on its way back from Shoreham too. This was appropriate, as Band of Brothers was partly filmed at North Weald. This coming Sunday is our Community Day, and we will be having a special display about Band of Brothers with the Transport Command Memorial Dajkota restoration project as a backdrop.

The Hangar 11 Spitfire PRXI also returned after a weekend at Shoreham. I helped to put it away along with a couple of enthusiasts from Belgium who were visiting the Airfield. They were fascinated that it had served operationally in Belgium in 1945.

Saturday 30 August
The Hunter T7 was out on Saturday, displaying at Shoreham. Andy Hill was flying it.

They had it for a while, but has been sold on a while ago.
