Having flown CV-580 about 6,000+ hrs, Carstadt (mod Dove) and a few flight in Volpar Beech 18. Reliability of the engine, Mechanics trained in jet engine work, availability of fuel, more power. I can tell you when I lost an engine in the 580 was no big deal. Which happened on more than a few occasions

    Mk.2 Pixs?

Anyone have a good Mk.2 pix. All I’ve found is this one background pix which could or could not be Mk.2.
Putnam has XE175 which went to RN to conv to AS.1. The only one’s should b XE173/4. Would like a pix showing the enlarged wheels. Which would be the main easy to see difference.

    Sincerely

In the list doesn’t show I have proof. Just found info somewhere. So very unreliable. In the many years since I put it out haven’t found anything else. Sometimes it helps to find info. Just because it’s in black and white doesn’t make it so. RTIF.

    Thanks

I think your right. Some times I reply too quick. Much bad info out there which is why I had it as 260. Info on French aircraft is hard to find.

    Thanks

Canuck your pix show longer canopy. Looks like maybe 2 seats. It might be the 2nd version of 250 but my source said it’s the Loire-Nieuport 260C1. So will give it too Richard B.

Just a thought about another aspect of this thread. Maybe you could ask for picture of a certain rare aircraft. Right now I can’t think of any I haven’t looked for. Maybe someone is looking for a picture of an aircraft and someone might have it. Then again some aircraft might not have a picture.
I have many aircraft with AF’s that I’m looking for but not just one type of aircraft. Last week was at a friends and had reference to the Thai gov’t using a Lockheed C-121A in Pan Am markings with Thai markings on it. Which was used only for one month and was able to find a picture of it. Have been looking for a picture of the US Army’s GI but haven’t been able to find it yet.

Over to you. I figured the Japanese one would be the lone holdout.

Try something a little different? Name all four but will take which aircraft they are associated with also.

As far at this thread. My website was started many years ago because even though you buy a Putnam title. I was always wondering about the one off’s or the aircraft they didn’t illustrate. Over the last 10 years haven’t worked on my lists as much as I did before. Have been compiling pixs of each aircraft type used by each AF. Have now done all AF’s except Russia,Pre 1945 Germany just starting on that, USAF, and USN. Where do you go to see a pix of a Tunisian Piper Cub? Who’s interested in that, all most people want to see is the tip of the spear. Except more people fly Piper Cubs and books have been written about them but never show they obscure AF pixs or even comment about them. So over the years have collected books about AF’s and Companies (just what I need another book on Boeing (have around 10)) So have done collections of company aircraft also. Will post sample later of one. Have done Aero Commander, Auster, Brewster, Burnelli(later not early ones yet), Helio, Lear, Pilatus, Rearwin, Sikorsky(US years), Wright and others not printed out yet. Some aircraft companies will never get a book about them but this is a quick an easy way to showcase their products. Can’t post on line as don’t have permission for all the photo’s and only use one/best pix. Will do privately PM style if anyone wants to work on this. Would be a good way to get French companies since I mainly work on military types. AviaFrance is good start but still has long way to go.

    Sincerely

Except for the engine. 4 points on the aircraft line up with it being a Bleriot-SPAD S91C1 Leger.
