Best to add the real villains such as Goldman Sachs, derivatives dealers, the entire EU, hedge funds and political ‘friends’ of such organisations to the manifest prior to sailing.:D

They even make school gate crack cocaine dealers appear like upstanding members of the community……

We’ve got 110 pages, and over 3000 individual posts on this now, and nothing has really changed. Those that support it will continue to fight their corner; those that dont will continue to say it cant be done.

We can only go on the evidence of the past – like it or not, these campaigns have attracted the funding they required, even if they have been from one generous benefactor. The supporters continue to fund the beast, though this may be on the decline. Remember the support was always to fund the whole operation – not just flying the aircraft. If you’ve got big bucks, I’m sure you could have the opportunity to change matters somewhat, yet none have chosen so to do.

I see no difference to any other charity in need of funds.

    Well said that man!

But that’s the whole point Bubbles. They’re the people I feel sorry for. It just shows that there is not enough interest in the arcraft and its operation to make it financially secure. The long term future should have been secured even before the restoration started and then this perpetual scenario of death or glory would not keep arising.

Somewhere, somehow, someone got it all wrong.

    regards,

    kev35

I would be incredibly surprised if those you ‘feel sorry for’ would be even slightly concerned at your ‘proxy’ concern for their feelings, clearly they must be very happy that the Vulcan is still flying several seasons later??

It’s flying!! What more test is there of success? It will probably fly next year too!

Somewhere, somehow, someone made a Vulcan fly again. Someone got it right.

It’s a hard pill to swallow Kev, but a Vulcan is flying. Deal with it…..

There are quite a few of these they are very thin and its hard to clean them without breaking them, I guess if they threw harness in there ought to be some stainless buckles as well?

Graham, a wire brush should be far from your tool of choice if you wish to preserve any of these items. I suggest a less mechanical technique along with a little patience:

For heavily corroded items and especially assemblies, including ferrous parts, such as various steel alloys, cast iron etc. I strongly reccomend dumping them in a solution of Deox-C or other similar chelating product. Place in a solution and keep it at about 30-40°C and you will be amazed at the results. Doesn’t harm skin, plastic, chrome, rubber, firmly attached paint etc. For example takes about six hours to turn a heavily corroded car brake caliper support frame back to solid base metal. (agitating with a nylon brush every hour helps too)

It’ll strip very heavy oxide layers from impossibly corroded items and leave just the solid base metal, pits and all. Leaves parts with a uniform grey colour. Can make an assembly fall apart with ease as opposed to brute force. The only catch is, it’s best for parts that you can immerse and it doesn’t work on alloys, though does remove scale associated with ferrous parts in contact.

    Pretty cheap too.

    All Charity = Begging bowl

Quite a simple concept and it still works.

If the ‘kid needs to get it’ too, then so be it. It’s working, a Vulcan is still flying!

    Business plan

    Get Vulcan Flying – Tick!

Fly it for several seasons – Tick!

Lets all look forward to a VuuuUUUULLLLTAAAASTIC© 2011

(You would think that the good Dr had been responsible for slaughtering a million Iraqi’s the way you lot go on about him!)

Strange how towards the end of yet another sucessful Vulcan season, all the armchair business managers climb aboard their hobby horses again? You’d think they are salivating over potential failure.

Still, lets all look forwards to a Vultastic 2011 Season!! 😀

Another sucessful Vulcan season under the belt.

Well done again the XH558 team!

Given the credit crunch, a recession, probable double dip, numerous neg heads, you have to take your hat off to the project manager for achieving the impossible against such a backdrop.

    Three cheers Hip Hip!!

Time to give up yet DOOOOOOMSTERS!!!!!! ??

They have both been within a couple of miles of Duxford.

Wasn’t there an entire thread dedicated to Janie and ‘it’s’ mysterious failure to appear at Duxford for the second day a few years ago? There was a wall of silence after IIRC?
