Interesting stuff, especially seeing the brownings coming out almost ready to fire , the visit to the airfields and that gunnery training dome. Wish they could have done a bit more about the reality of the “POW” camps in the south.

All in all a good programme, much better than the endless documentary repeats we are normally subjected to.

Thanks Allan. That sounds like it might also be the one referred to by Roadracer above.

I have located it, well south of Bayeux, that might be a little too much of a diversion in the time available. But it will be retained. Using Google Street View it is possible to see what a beautiful site it is.

    Moggy

Think thats the one okay, but cant find the photos to make sure. On that trip we visited every cemetary in or around Normandy so its hard to remember.

But I do seem to remember that there was a young lad who was under 16, lied about his age or something? Died around d-day?

    Edit, just did a google search and found this;

    Remarkable courage.

Unfortunatly there is plenty of choice.

But there was one, a very small one, cant think of its name, maybe only a couple of dozen graves? The all gave me a lump in the throat but this one even more so.

It is the last resting place of the youngest serving member of the armed forces to die in WW2.

Must have photos or details here somewhere, will get back to you asap.

Didnt the later Hurricanes have a bell shaped end to their exhausts ?

Any ideas on the windscreen ?

PS; what about the tie downs on the outer wings , was that normal for displayed aircraft during WW2 ?

Will leave this one to the Hurricane experts, but isnt that armoured perspex on the front of the cockpit? Did the early exported Hurricanes have this ? Might be the angle but it looks to be fairly proud of the frame and much more so than apparent on earlier Mk1’s?

PS. whats with the triagular symbol just aft of the exhuast ?

The co-pilot also said that it was NOT a training flight… but that they were returning from another airfield.

But apparently you have decided to ignore everything the crew who were actually flying the plane said, and believe those who weren’t there and who are saying he is lying about everything.

Oh dear, wrong side of the bed this morning was it ??

Or dont you understand what “….if it was a training flight ” means ?

I remember once, gathering drink cans for an appeal for a museum, got friends to help out, collected them, crushed them and after a few months had about 5 or 6 bin-liner bags…

Delivered them one weekend and didnt even get a ” thank you “. If anything it was a chore for the guy to have to walk outside to help carry them in….Never again !

The co-pilot has said twice that the film crew were not onboard, he would know wouldn’t he? He has been very upfront about the whole incident.

Here is another link showing the damage if you have not read avcanada.

Thanks for that, had looked @ avcanada, and was merely commenting on what had been said on the other forum with regards to what is descriebd as buffalo Joe’s “fib”.

It would seem unlikely that there would have been a crew onboard if it was a training flight ? Having watched one of the progs today they would appear to have plenty of footage of electra aircrew doing precisely that !

If he had the decency to threat these people with a little consideration he would have earned himself, and his airline, some respect.

All he has done is confirm to the rest of the world that he is what a lot of people over here know him as, a self serving, greedy, loathsome piece of crap.
A prime example of all that was wrong with the Celtic tiger, shame he didnt go down the drain the way the rest of the “greed is good” vultures did.

Spoken as someone who knows several former Ryanair employees, and had the misfortune to put up with the service standards on a few occasions….never again!
