The DH-100 is quite easy to be separated in little pieces, as shown in this pic:

All this would seem to go without problems in an Hercules.

Also to be noted, that by the end of the war, in the US press, many newspapers were cleary saying something was not quite right in the way civilian populations were targeted in Europe, in the style “if we are the good guys, how can we act like this…”

These reactions were suddenly put in the background pages, when the allied troops discovered the nazi camps…
