Just curious, which unit is the badge on the cockpit ?
Btw, the strange form of the cowling, is it because of the Russian engine ?
I’m fairly sure that the emblem is fictitious…

I believe it too and this will be always a mystery to me, why to “invent” a decoration, while so many amazing real decorations are possible (especially for late-war 190A/F’s with round canopy).
Anxiously awaiting some clarification.
I just love the “anxiously” 😀
“Nevermind that they got them from NATO.”
You’re perfectly right.
“Possible Score for Syrian Rebels: Pictures Show Advanced Missile Systems”
Always nice to know that taliban-wannabees have access to AA missiles 😡
Very interesting.
It looks like the one of the Max Vogelsang’s family: is there a new owner?
Hi Deryck,
The DH-100 is quite easy to be separated in little pieces, as shown in this pic:

All this would seem to go without problems in an Hercules.
Deryck, I know a maintenance specialist from the Swiss airforce used to these operations with the De Havilland DH-100 and DH-112; would you like that I contact him for you, for perhaps some technical informations about putting a Vampire to pieces?
It’s of course ok to make digital copies of originals.
But NEVER, NEVER, NEVER (yes, caplocks) throw away the originals in any case!
Btw, here…

… some very nice pics of the Wehrmacht burying with the honors (and the St-George’s cross on the coffins) the team of a shot down British bomber.
Just curious, were the Luftwaffe members shot down over Great-Britain treated this way?

This quote was from Churchill, about the massive bombings of civilian populations:
Perhaps the next time round the way to do it will be to kill women, children and the civilian population.
Of course, this doesn’t change the fact the nazi regime was disgusting, was “black”, but the others ones were not full “white” too.

Btw, the memo is not from Churchill but from general Ismay :

Also to be noted, that by the end of the war, in the US press, many newspapers were cleary saying something was not quite right in the way civilian populations were targeted in Europe, in the style “if we are the good guys, how can we act like this…”
These reactions were suddenly put in the background pages, when the allied troops discovered the nazi camps…
About this whole subject, general Curtis E. Le May was quite honest…

Killing Japanese didn’t bother me very much at that time… I suppose if I had lost the war, I would have been tried as a war criminal….

… not trying to sing the usual and almost obligatory “kambala” song about fight for democracy, frrrrrrrrreedom, against evil and so on, often sung among the aviation buffs.

Frankly, why discussing this subject, as it is impossible to discuss it in a quiet way?
Especially with the people, from both sides, seeing everything full white or full black, repeating “ad nauseam” almost scripted thinkings.
My modest opinion : everything about this subject is grey, grey, grey!
