It’s probably the first production aircraft for the passenger variant,i bet that the “Boeing Flight Test Department” has ordered it 😀 ,if it was a genuine order i’m sure boeing would be shouting from the roof tops about it,not keeping it hush hush.

Another option for BA if they wanted to keep up the business frequencies on certain routes would be to have some A319LR’s of 737-700ER’s this strategy has worked for other majors like AF/KL & LH.It’s an option but i’m not sure if it will work, most people expect big wide cabins for long haul not narrow bodies.

Eventually LHR will become more & more congested as numbers grow & the only way to increase numbers with the same amount of slots is to put more people in a single aircraft in the same slot, the A380 is the only way to do this, and in 5/10 years time this will become very apparent & if BA don’t go with the A380 they’ll will fall behind.Regardless of how many slots they have(with the open skies coming about their slot count will be slashed too)

I don’t think anyone expects BA to replace their 747 fleet one for one with A380’s,no airline is doing that,i expect some A380’s to be ordered along with a smaller type such as the 777-300ER or 787/A350 in future. With the constraints on LHR it would be suicidle to allow it’s competitors to have A380’s & BA stick with the 747.

Lufthansa always use Pier C at Dublin, that’s the nice new one on the end. It’s night & day compared to the cattle shed that is Pier A! 😉
