The problem with aircraft carrier AEW is that it’s smaller than land-based AEW, so the cost-benefits don’t weigh up.
MPA is however definitely useful. The MRA4 however wasn’t that bad in the end. If you want to know why it was cut, ask RBS and co. By 2009 there were no significant problems with it and DE&S were using deliberate stalling tactics before eventually cutting it. It was the money, not the aircraft. What they need to do is build the damn thing from scratch to design, rather than working with old fuselages if they ever begin it again, which seems unlikely. Using the old fuselages was supposed to reduce costs but in the end it quadrupled them because none of them were made correctly, or even the same. It was literally 12 different designs.
I’m going to play devil’s advocate though. Aside from protecting the immediate water surrounding ships, which can be done with helicopters, what is the use of tracking submarines unless you physically have a submarine shadowing them all the time ready to shoot, and if you do then what is the point in the MPA? There’s some benefit. In a live war you can detect them further afield and destroy them earlier but then, in a live war, a big fat MPA is like a grouse among shotgun-wielding farmers. So if you send out an MPA too far afield it’s likely to fall victim. There’s also the fact that more and more submarines are being equipped with SAMs. It’s a capability gap but a manageable gap.

How can you pinpoint OTH radar? Trace it back to the ionosphere? AWACS is line-of-site, very easy to pinpoint, can be hit from 300+km away and can only detect stealth jets out to a lot less than that. LOS detection of modern AESA isn’t as easy or straight forward as you think either.
The ship will pinpoint the MPA as soon as it takes off, the slow MPA will then be downed by fighters.
Because they’d rather surrender to the Russians than the rebels. The Russians are likely to treat ’em much better, & because Russia claims not to be participating in the war, will let them go home.

the area increases significantly with each step, with the ship of course having no area, its pinpointed already
Actually area only increases detection at a rate of ^0.25. Radar detection increases at a rate of area^0.75.
You do realize using a ship radar points out the coordinates and should be avoided until the ship is lit ?

Depends on the sophistication of the radar, maybe they’ll just catch a nasty virus, and most likely it’ll light up the enemy long before they’re in range. They’ll then have about 100 angry stealth fighters on their case.
Do you think you’ll ever see a aircraft carrier without a destroyer escort? Do you think you’ll ever see a destroyer without a frigate… and minesweeper etc. The Type 45s actually have 2 radars.
Not rotary wing AAR. If out of range of land based AAR we either have to qualify a buddy store for the F-35B or do without.
This is the thing, when will you realistically be out of range of land-based AAR/AEW? Even the middle of the Atlantic doesn’t fit that description. There are that many bases dotted around that it just isn’t essential to have naval AAR/AEW.

I have checked it out, spent a lot of time in Warton. You delivered a training system for the MRA4, sadly the aircraft didn’t follow. Not very impressed.

Welcome to the reality of war. Nobody probably told them the investigators were coming 1 day after the incident. Lack of trust. They probably wanted first look at the evidence. The problem with your conspiracy theories is that all the evidence is still there to confirm a missile hit. Nobody has tampered with anything.

Your problem is that you catch early news and try maintain the belief in it even when it’s proven to be complete nonsense. On reflection I probably did hear these before but I dismissed them after they were found to be ********. I.e. black box conspiracy – FALSE. Tampering of evidence – FALSE (it’s still all there). Some people with clear agendas hang on to these conspiracy theories.
It’s really all the same kinds of conspiracies that propagated after 9/11. The fact you seriously believe anything coming from Kiev amazes me. Has a protest with immediate sustained coverage and support in UK and US, shoots police and protesters, takes over by coup, expels previous party, bans Russian and Greek as official languages, advisers sent, holds election in the middle of a civil war, richest man in the country gets elected, EU/US lifts arms export ban imposed when Yanukovych faced dissenters. Honestly, it doesn’t get anymore ridiculous if only you’d step back and see it for what it is. And of course Israel just happens to be bombing the crap out of Gaza at the same time to distract attention away from the similar numbers of civilian casualties in Eastern Ukraine.
