Sea Prince
The Sea Prince will be next to arrive at St Athan. It will be brought by road, and yes we will look at trying to get that airworthy as well.

I can assure you that the aircraft has been purchased to keep it flying. the aircraft will be flown to its new destination very soon and join the other two aircraft the owner already has. As PK has been maintaining the aircraft for some time he has agreed to assist in keeping the aircraft airworthy. Yes Avgas is expensive but if you shop around it is cheaper to fly the aircraft to different places and pick up enough to carry out a few flights and as everyone knows there is the airshows to go to that will give fuel as part of the price. The intention is to carry on flying the aircraft to be displayed on the circuit.
XL500
Loading the Gannet at Exeter on friday morning for the trip to st Athan. Friday to jct 32 on M4 then saturday to its new home.
XL500
XL500 is not at St Athan yet. We have a problem with a pedestrian crossing and a couple of sagging power cables on route through Barry. We are hoping to get that sorted very soon and then the move will take place (overnight). If i get a chance i will post the time and date on here for everyone.
Exeter
Just got in from today’s show, sorry but I was very disappointed. The last time I was at Kemble was for the 50th show & that blew this 1 away. 1st Miss D gets her display cut off due to the fuel leak ( fair enough ) but only 7 Hunters made the final flypast. Why wasn’t anymore from Exeter involved? Where were the 1’s from Scampton? What about the Swedish & French owned?
Red Arrows get untidier everytime I see them nowadays, tho I did like what they say is new & never before performed fast rolls in a loose diamond formation but the Gnats did it & called them twinkle rolls. Then there’s Brendan O’Briens truck landing, it was diabolical in the 80’s, are we really that desperate for airshow entertainment now?
It’s a shame Kemble is trying to go so commercial, the intimate Delta Jets open days were so much better.
Regarding why more Hunters were not from Exeter is rather dissapointing considering that all the Hunters that were flying were maintained at Exeter, including the Dutch pair along with the JP3 and JP5 that were on show, so i think we did a pretty good turn out as without the aircraft maintained by us being there it would have left the show with none in the sky.
Well done Glen and all the team at Kemble for all your assistance and well done for putting on an excellent show with the weather as it was.

XL500
Sorry. forgot to mention, we have a set of zero time engines and have recently been offered another overhauled set which will have to wait for a day or two until the pocket fills up again, but the intention is to get the second set also.
XL500
The rear cockpit suffered with the most corrosion as they always leaked but the rest is repairs due to minor corrosion or damage. We have a full time sheet metal worker on the aircraft and you would have thought that he built this aircraft as it would be very hard for you to see what has been replaced and what was original. The undercarriage has suffered a little bit also but rather than remove corrosion we have enough spares to replace everything needed. We will worry about the removed parts when the aircraft is back airborne.
Cleaning
WD 40 is an expensive way of protecting the aircraft. It is better to use PX24 which is an alternative that is used by the military and is a lot cheaper.

Huntyer flying is going good and strong at Exeter with the hangarage being doubled in the last few months to accomadate all the aircraft. Apologies for the website not going at present but we have been so busy that we have had little time to getting the site renewed. We have been getting the Team Viper aircraft ready for another trip to the middle east and if you go to their website you can see the aircraft operating at the last shows of the season with Hunters instead of strikeys that they started with. At present we have 8 hunters, 2 strikeys and 6 yak 52 aircraft serviceable and of course XL500 the Gannet which is being restored to airworthy condition.
Today Hunter Flying at Exeter paid tribute by doing a flypast at the funeral and on the second flypast Sqn Ldr Chris Heames the pilot carried out his own tribute by doing a victory roll in a Hawker Hunter which the family said that it looked fantastic over the funeral of such a pioneer of aviation.
