    Hello Ross

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

My father was at that time AC2 Harry W. Rossiter Service number 638839. His service record says he was at AACU 29/3/40. Under the heading, Reason they have marked B/X.

Before going AACU he was at 3 Wing No2 E&WS No2 C.F.F. as of 2/3/40. The Reason there is listed as HH.

He went on to become a Wireless Operator (air crew) & Air Gunner.

    Regards.

    Hi All,

I’m a new member & not certain if I am doing this correctly. Pls let me know if I’m at the wrong thread.

During my father’s Wireless Op/Air Gunner wartime training he was sent (15 March 1940 to 2 May 1940) to No.1 A.A.C.U. in Wales. I have found two possible sites that might fit but wondered if anyone could tell me which is the correct one. Through the Internet I have guessed it would be either Penhros or Carew Cheriton.

I can find no details of this, (even his service record does not say) what he did there other than a note of his which says ‘pulling drogue for anti-aircraft fire training in Hawker Henleys’. I want to get these details correct as I am writing up his RAF service for my grandchildren & want to be as accurate as I can be.

I look forward to any help you can supply or any places I could look for details.
