These debates come up ever time M$ releases a new FS, especially when upgrading the platform. More than ever this time people are shying away due to the new capabilities of Vista which will boost FSX even more, but look scary from the outside especially to people with less technical knowledge.
FSX is much better than FS9 from my use on a Windows XP Pro platform. Ive run it on my laptop which is not amazing but has a decent onboard ATI X700 video card.
People are scared away from FSX due to Vista but 90% due to them being comfortable with their addons and do not want to break their level of comfort, rather transition to a new higher level when able. This is not a fault of them I am like this too but I am lucky to have facilities to try the new sim out without having to get rid of FS9 etc (I run FSX on my A320 Sim and FS9 on my home PC).
It has been shown on other forums that when people are asked why they dont move, they want to give a solid reason and this can lead to slander as it has done. Its human nature to want to match others egos and this is where the slander comes from on so many forums (not saying its slandered on here). FSX doesnt have a clear picture in the minds of users as a result of various slander etc and its not fair as its a blo*dy good program. Ok some PCs cant hack it but thats no reason to slander it.
Sorry about the rant but im getting fed up overall of people on various forums (mind you not much here) making up lies or just exaggerating situations to make FSX look bad as they are embarrased about not being able to upgrade.
BBC Frontpage (http://news.bbc.co.uk) carries a video half way down of the landing. Nice work by the Captain! 😎
Dunsfold is an old RAF airport and hence has three runways forming a triangle.
How long into the flight was the picture taken?
Could they not offer it for sale on the off chance someone wants to take the route? Surely it would be better to get something back. Having said that atm they would not need cabin crew, wereas with passengers you would.
I think with this kind of policy the Conservates could easily loose votes from people who have to fly. Personally i think they are relying too much on the green vote but this is a Commerical Aviation forum so not the place for that topic.
They claimed on the BBC yesterday that this would not effect families taking one holiday a year. They quoted their flight price as something like £50 each which meant VAT would be £8.75. Hence saving on the £10 APD.
£50 seems the wrong figure to me so i checked an average MYT flight from LGW in late July to Lanzarote for 2 adults 2 children.
ADULT BASIC PRICE £278.00
CHILD BASIC PRICE £258.00
FUEL CHARGE MH £40.00
FUEL CHARGE MH £40.00
APD (EU) £20.00
APD (EU) £20.00
FUEL CHARGE MH £40.00
FUEL CHARGE MH £40.00
Total: £736.00
So if we take the £40 list APD off it brings price down to £696. VAT on this would be £121.80 which is £817.80 in total. Some £81.80 more than with APD instead of VAT.
Just doenst work and no one who flies even a small amount would be wise to vote for this.
What direction is this airline moving in? I cant see much of a future for these guys anymore.
Anyone wants to quess where the LHR slots will go?
They wont go anywhere as bmi are not going away!
If you look at bmi compared to BA, they have a better reward scheme (according to industry critics) and they have not had any of the problems that BA have encountered like strikes etc. This makes them a safe bet in the eyes of the public.
I think bmi have lost out due to several bad decisions but perhaps some are missing the bigger picture. In Marketing its common for a company to do something to its product to make it less attractive before it annouced a promotional campaign that will double its sales etc.
An example, Pepsi in Tesco. Recently Tesco had an offer of 50% off 2L Pepsi range in my local store. You actually were only saving 20p as they had bumped the price before hand (two days before) to £1.80 per bottle then brought it down to 90p per bottle. Considering normally the price is £1.10 you are hardly saving 50%.
The same principle can apply to bmi. They took away the food onboard only to bring it back now with this new scheme. You only get the food if you fly with them alot to keep your points up, hence retaining customers. Before you could only use them once and would still get free food.
Diamond Club members only need 18,000 for silver… I believe that the correct figure is 3000 miles.
Andy
Sorry opps yours right!
£5.71 may not seem good to you guys but compared to the normal security wage thats good. Most security companies wages track the minimum wage and they have no problem getting people to fill it for this amount.
You pay for quality thats why I pay my guys £6 and I am very selective of who I take as I like to pay my people to think.
On the flip side, £5.71 is a dream wage to anyone from Eastern Europe too but then you get the problem of english skills.
Unsure if this helps but alot of airlines using the following companies:
Wensum – Pilots Uniforms (used by all charter airlines i believe)
Duni – Biggest airline catering company in Europe in terms of things like trays, cutlery, napkins and anything else to do with food that can be branded with their logo. They dont supply the actual food mind.
In terms of a supply chain for site location, they would do this internally when setting up or expanding.
Logistics covers a wide area (i.e. Crew movement, aircraft movement, spare parts, promotional stuff, operating manuals etc). These are all too specific to airlines to demostrate a specific supply chain without knowning the airline.
If you give us a specific airline I am sure you could get alot of info. But mind you is this for a school/uni project as we dont want to be doing the work for you….
There is a music theme to this “stunt”……………………….
From what ive been told its either a “music theme” or a “presenter theme” but given no televised regional events to the extent of Children In Need I am keen to go with “music theme”.
There is a rumor going around the BBC an aircraft will be used during Comic Relief Night this year for some form of “stunt”. Maybe this is it and rumor is true?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/6376509.stm
Locally rumor/belief is that this is just to gain funding from InvestNI to keep jobs (have made redundant i think 2k now) and the jet wont actually be a) built or b) built at Belfast to the extent they claim.
Myself wannabe_pilot and Mark L saw a BA 737 (i think -500) at LGW which had a huge area of what looked like duct tape. One of them probably has a picture still perhaps?
Surely that might be liabilous unless Boeing can prove those are the only changes and that the designers did not start from scratch?
What about skiers who bring a bag, skis and ski boots!!!! They will simply pick other carriers where available. To be honest Im in disbelief at these charges BA are expensive enough but then to add this charge on is farcial.
Passengers will be able to carry one piece of sporting equipment free of charge in addition to their baggage allowance.
