I always want to know on delivery flights is it boeing pilots that fly the plane or do the airlines send pilots out there to collect it?

    Regards
    James

Usually the airline. I know an easyJet pilot that used to fly brand new Boeing 737-700s back to the UK. He said he was the favourite part of his job as no uniform, no passengers, alot more laid back and best of all no technical faults what so ever! Plus he also got to spend a few days in Seattle before hand usually.

Is the AA crew room airside at Manchester? Only reason I can think of for him having to pass security that doesnt mean he is getting on a plane? He would have maybe been in uniform if thats all he had for a nightstop?

Highly unlikely but that must be what got him off as i cant think of anything else that would have got him a not guilty verdict unless someone fluffed up evidence or statements etc.

Seeing silver duct-tape on the wings of a national carrier’s aircraft is hardly awe inspiring!

Has been discussed before. Used by all airlines at some point or another. Its actually made for the aerospace industry and not out of the local B&Q… Does not reflect in any way on the safety of the airline unless it actually was bought at B&Q….

    Drink-accused pilot ‘not guilty’

An airline pilot accused of turning up for work while six times over the limit to fly has been cleared by a jury.
American Airlines pilot James Yates, 46, from Ohio, was alleged to have arrived at Manchester Airport drunk, smelling of alcohol and unsteady.

Although he was almost six-and-a-half times over the drink-fly limit, Mr Yates claimed he never intended to fly.

Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court found him not guilty of acting as first officer while over the limit.

Absolutely amazing program! Not really for just pure aviation enthusiasts other than some VERY real seeming shots from the cockpit of landing and takeoff.

I am not usually into Middle East stuff but was a very compelling program to watch.

China is building A320s for Airbus now i thought?

I would have thought it was easier with their labour for Airbus and Boeing to subcontract production to the cheapest bidder who can guarentee the quality of the airframes?

I believe the JFK A380 is going to perform a shuttle to Chicargo and then come back to JFK, where it will depart for FRA?

It is true that Astraeus are not a tour operator , although Thomas cook use Astraeus for charter flights as well as a few over tour ops , with the merges this could affect them.

See where you are going with that but im not 100% sure.

Under the thinking that they do not operate loss making routes I imagine in the summer season there is little room for them to merge two routes without having to double aircraft size which may be difficult/costly to do in the short term depending on what they want and were they can get it. Of course they would love to run a FCA 767 instead of two A320s as this would bring their cost down but I cant see this happening on large scale in their first season.

I think Astraeus wont find it that hard this summer but next summer (2008) is when they will find it hard as the new merged companies (Both FCA and MYT merges) will have had time to work on their fleet in more detail and properly plan their capacity etc accordingly.

I think there will still be work for Astaeus and Titan in their markets through the independant tour operators or perhaps on more specialised one off routes for the likes of FCA or MYT merges.

It dont surprise me after the merge of Thomas Cook and My travel.

It does leave very little competition. Im guessing excel and astraeus wont be happy to hear about this.

Excel maybe but Astraeus are not a Tour Operator themselves, more of a contactor for flights no??

Maybe Excel and Monarch could merge and we end up with “the big three”?

Last week the rumour was they were merging with Monarch!

So all that left is really TUI, MYT, MON? Not much by means of competition compared to before. Is this good news at all for consumers?

I wonder if Monarch will keep to themselves or merge into another group? I would hate to see Monarchs livery dissappearing, my 3rd favourite after Virgin (#1) and bmi (#2)!

Maybe EIN wet leased in for a day as after all they were doing various charters etc for the rugby (as flight was on St Patricks Day) and may have used an A330 to Rome hence meaning long haul was short of an aircraft?

if you had bought your kids (if you had any) a brand new bike for Christmas and someone stole it, is that right?

I know what your trying to get at and agree but many wont see it this was as you have not taken ownership of bike yet as a company was transporting it and therefore the people “looting” are commiting an offence against a faceless company not an individual. I am sure it wouldnt have been as bad for the MSC Napoli cargo if it was 1 persons cargo not a commerical thing.

Is this the one featured in the Airliner World just out? I saw its £149 pp. Looks very good but i think its a cunning advert in AW as i saw no authors name next too it?
