Well, it seems to me that a 17 year old A320 doesn’t seem to be as valuable as it should be. 17 is pretty young to be parted out, especially when you consider that 30 year old DC-9s and 737s are still used worldwide.

Is this the first of many? Who knows. But a relatively young aircraft was been scrapped and regardless what spin you want to put on it, it obviously was not worth keeping airworthy.

I swear you could not have typed that second paragraph 😮 😮

Anyway, im just biding my time until they scrap one ideally in UK but probably in Europe. Ill be over there with a flat bed trailer within 24hrs to cut meself a nice big old cockpit and few rows of Cabin!

Nice photos, notice is tie is dark blue, not black 😀

I’m guessing that when an airline introduces a new or special livery, they organise the water salute, but for the likes of a new service, like Continental starting at BFS and BRS recently, would the airline organise it or the airport?

One would expect co-ordination to organise it since airport control Fire Service (usually) and airline controls plane (usually :p)

I see where you’re coming from – I know the Baby moving to BHD rumour has been mooted in the past – if the two combine under the one operation then surely it would be more costly to operate from both BHD and BFS. If the present Baby routes were to go to BHD, then presumably the same terms currently granted to BMI would apply. The only possible problem would be BHX where they would compete directly with Flybe.

Others have tried working from both in the past (Jersey European as they were then & BRAL) and discontinued due to costs.

Of course, there is the possibility that BMI could transfer back to BFS although rumour has it that their departure from there in 2001 was less than amicable.

There was a rumor that bmi would move back in 2003 but that was due to bmi paying for their own airbridge. Otherwise unfounded rumor.

bmibaby could not get a better deal at BFS than they do a BHD. BHD cant beat it but i think did offer the same thing. BFS is more central to Northern Ireland whereas people from outside of Greater Belfast see Belfast City as a hassle to get to. BFS on the otherhand due to its more central location is favoured by them esp since its for leisure purposes whereas bmi is business 95%. If they moved to BHD would just be more expense moving down when its going good for them at BFS.

As for bmi moving to BFS or double ops, it wont happen. Tried and failed before. Only time it worked was when BHD was at old terminal which was crap and BFS terminal way better.

Prestwick was where they shot 747 which was a Virgin Atlantic 747.

The track closed down aerodrome was mentioned before on here?

If it is shown on Discovery Wings will be 5 years late. Last time i saw DW in Janurary the “Airshow World” program was on 2001 Paris Show. They also aired a flight sim documentary last november billing it as New. Mmm it was made 5 years before that, only found this out when i contacted one of the ppl in it!

If the two become one again, will be interesting to see what happens at the Belfast end – BFS or BHD or both?

Considering they already said they will keep Business Class on BHD LHR route (their most profitable business route) BHD will be staying for a long time. Im sure the better bmi baby routes will still stay also as it would cost too much to move to BHD and this is all about cost cutting!
