I think they will only do it if we have sufficient people who are interested. I have to agree, its a lot for a tour of a retired aircraft, but its likely to be only chance to get on it.
If you have done the tour before, this one lasts longer and is exclusively for those people going to the meet, no other members of the public, so it would be ideal for photographs etc, knowing that there aren’t too many people in the way to spoil your shots.
How do they propose getting an A380 into Farnborough? Surely the runway isn’t big enough to handle it?
Manchester Meet: Slight Problem?
Hi,
Yesterday I sent an email off to the Concorde Tour people to enquire about the cost of their tours and to see if we (those of us going to Manchester on August 10) would qualify for a group discount.
It just so happens that on that particular day, there are no Concorde Tours available and even if there was, there is no such thing as a group discount.
Assuming the aircraft is available on this day (bearing in mind it is closed to the public), they are happy to open it up for a private tour, just for those of us wanting to see it, but the regular ticket price of £12 would jump to £20. It does seem that you get to spend longer on the aircraft and to see more of it than you normally would.
Any thoughts from those of you coming along?
Very good news indeed alothough wouldnt HKG have been better with Malev soon to be a member of the One World alliance.
Why’s that?
There are enough oneworld airlines already serving Hong Kong, but fewer that serve the Thai capital.
Not as bad as Farnborough though, where a number of items leave before the public days start.
I don’t know about that.
I checked the Paris Air Show website just a few days before we went and was surprised by just much was on display or actually going to be flying on the day. Like most, I only wanted to see the A380 take to the skies, but a lot of what we had been promised, and I mean a lot, just disappeared in time for us getting there. Whatever happened to the Qatar A319 that was supposed to be flying?
Mind you, wasn’t too impressed by Farnborough 2002 and even less impressed by this year’s Paris, so I doubt I’ll be visiting any of them again.
Why has this post got 1 star?
I think we have learnt to ignore that.
I made a post or two between about 10.30am and 1.00pm today, so the forum hadn’t gone offline.
Nice shots!! Can I ask what reg the TCX 757 was please?
You can see by the gear bay doors that it is G-FCLG.
I am not interested in the TC B767 by Herpa
here is a 767-300 1:500
I don’t think he wants a Thomas Cook 767 😉
Just to keep you updated, I have taken responsibility for the Concorde tour and have tried to ring the Manchester Tour Centre many times now. The line constantly seems to be engaged, so I have now emailed them and asked for availability on Wednesday 10 August and whether or not we would qualify for a group discount.
Like Kev said above, it would be much appreciated if you could post your name below if you definitely want to go on the tour or PM me just to confirm. If you’re undecided, please don’t put your name down, it will just confuse me.
I’ve also requested further information about other attractions on offer at Manchester.
Sounds like a great idea. I would certainly be interested in spending some time there. 🙂
Sorry, I still can’t access the site.
Don’t know what’s going on there. I’ve attached a screenshot of it.
I’m having immense problems trying to get the form up and running that will be used by visitors to submit trip reports, so I’ve had to temporarily use a free one that will display an advertisement after you submit. The entire website doesn’t have a single advertisement on it, so I’m not going to stand for that. Over the coming days, I will be finding a replacement and one that is completely ad-free.
If you want to use the site, its really quite self-explanatory and I’d love to receive some of your trip reports.
T5, is that a museum onboard a 747 or is it part of a museum?
I’m not sure if it is a museum inside the aircraft? It seemed to be advertised as one at the show.
Thanks very much. The extra publicity is very much appreciated! 😀
Regardless of how you booked them you should have no problems checking in at Aberdeen and the check-in agent checking you all the way through to your final destination.
