Nice report Michael. I have actualy been on both the aircraft you flew on! I assume you were in the rear (cloth) section of the 767 rather than the middle (leather) section?

I certainly was. Any idea why the seats aren’t leather throughout?

Out of intrest has anyone on here been to Budapest, me and Mrs Wilag are off there at the begining of Dec with Jet2 from Man. Also how long of a flight is it 2hours +?.

This topic is a few days old now. I’ve been to Budapest and returned already. I posted a flight review. Outbound, the flight from Heathrow was bang on 2 hours and inbound it was 2 hours 35 minutes. I’m sure you’ll have a great time. Do you know where you’re staying?

Yes, I have with my Mrs – we went last year in November and really enjoyed it. Flew with Malev. Flying time from LHR was 2.5 hours. Take a coat as it’ll be quite cold in December.

The temperatures in Budapest from last Friday until Monday were surprising. I was expecting to have to wrap up in my scarf and bobble hat, but I don’t recall the days getting colder than 20C. On Saturday, it was 24C during the day. I was able to walk about outside in just a T-shirt, even in the evening, up until 10pm(ish), when you would expect the temperatures to drop considerably.

Great report Michael – Cant wait for your Easyjet reports now 🙂

Thanks LBARULES. I’ve never flown easyJet report, but heard some good reviews about them, so I’m really looking forward to it. 🙂

That was a great trip report one of the best Ive read.I was just lookin at the BA timetable on my computer and its now showing BA870 as a A319.

Glad you liked the report, Shamrock. As for the aircraft that operates 870, it does vary. If you check the Heathrow/Gatwick movements site, it is normally an A319 or an A320. The LHR-BUD-LHR service is also operated regularly by 757s and 767s.

Does anyone know when 870 returns and what flight number it operates as? The flight arrives in Budapest at 11.40pm, so it clearly doesn’t return that night.

Its probably been asked (and answered) countless times, but why was the nose gear not centered and did this ever cause any problems taxying?

    Great photos BTW!

Blimey… stupid me had never noticed that! 😀

I like it. Compared to the Singapore Airlines Star Alliance colour scheme on their 747-400s, it’s very nice.

This Star Alliance scheme has grown on me. I used to dislike it a lot.
