I think bmi are great and have flown with them a few times now:

    LHR-GLA-LHR
LHR-GLA-LHR (would have been EDI, but that was a little too expensive)

We got a hot bacon and cheese panini first time around and sandwiches/baguettes every time, washed down with a free drink, whether it be a hot one, soft or alcoholic.

Compared to some other full-service airlines, bmi is certainly very cheap.

I travel to Glasgow fairly frequently and I’ve regularly spotted from inside the terminal, in the seating near the retail area – at the top of the escalator in Arrivals – without any trouble whatsoever.

You can’t see all of the stands from there, but nothing can land or take-off without going past you. It’s ideal if it’s raining. 😉

Another excellent spot. I know the one you mean. The restaurant/bar (Garfunkel’s?) area next to the departures area is another good spot. The views are practically the same as mentioned above, but you can grab a front row seat and enjoy a slap-up meal whilst watching the action.

Thanks for the reccomendaion T5, makes me want to go even more! 😀

Excellent stuff. It’s so nice to have a change every so often. Even living a short ride away from the busiest airport on the country (Heathrow), its great to visit some of our smaller, regional airports. Although there are not as many movements, the traffic is certainly unbeatable. Forget all these foreign 747s you see in London, what about the amazing little island-hoppers and other props you see at airports like Glasgow.

michael wasnt the june trip the time you got stopped by the police lol anyone know how relaxed security for spotters is?

It was. They seemed a pleasant bunch though, telling us where we could stand and where we couldn’t. It actually turned out later that they had no right to stop us as we were allowed to be where we were (somebody said on the forum). Never mind… I’ll know for next time! 🙂

    Super shots! 😀

The BWIA A340 is a real winner with me.

I certainly enjoyed it earlier in the year (June).

A330Crazy and I travelled up with the excellent bmi and enjoyed a day with Ren Frew around the airport. With it being the day that Air Traffic Control buggered up, we got an extra 90 minutes at Heathrow and then an extra hour on the way back, due to all of the delays.

Glasgow itself was also interesting. Compared to Heathrow, it obviously has far fewer movements, but you get to see traffic we don’t see down here, epsecially the BA/Loganair Twin Otters and the charters which don’t come into Heathrow.

Last time I was there, in July, I passed through Glasgow Airport (again with bmi) and saw some more good traffic, including the Travel City Direct 747-200.

    Well worth a visit! 😀

Well the leg room is a lot better than what you get with a Charter airline. 3 seats on each side of the cabin.
Also, you can sit anywhere on the plane, so get there fast and RUN!! lol

I’m not sure that you are getting more legroom with easyJet than you are with a charter airline. I would imagine that charter airlines offer 28-29″ as well, with 28″ being the legal minimum amount of pitch allowed.

Would be handy if anyone has the A319 plans as well? 😀

had Aer Lingus seen the light 😉

Overall, I much prefer Boeing products to Airbus products. I base my opinion on the way each manufacturer’s aircraft looks, since I haven’t a clue about their performance statistics. However, I don’t think the Aer Lingus colour scheme looks at all good on a 777. Leave it on the A330 I say.
