RE: Boeing 737 – Is it time to move on?

I am completely against the whole A380 idea but I won’t start a topic on that! I think it would cause havoc if there was an accident – just using the general public as guinea pigs!!

RE: Boeing 737 – Is it time to move on?

This topic seems to have been blown a tad out of proportion!! I suggested that Boeing make something else – not abolish the 737 altogether. It’s a very successful aircraft with which I am very well aware, but I think they should make something similar, but different (if that makes any sense)!!

Obviously there was no real news to report so the media had to think something up quickly.

Could the Airbus A320 ever be as popular as the 737?

Unlikely, but I’d love to see it happen one day. The A320 is a fantastic aircraft, both to look at and to fly on.

What does everyone else think? A320 or 737?

Hmm… so we seem to have narrowed it down to a 752/763. Considering they only operate 757s, 767s and 737s, we have made little progress! 🙁

They should do what British Airways do and tell you what aircraft will be providing the service(s) on their website. Good old BA – I was able to find out that I would be going on a 734 and returning on an A319 when I recently went to Barcelona.

I flew Gatwick to Girona during lo-season on a 757. I too, doubt that at this time of the year they will use a 767.

Not forgetting, BY also operate 738s(?) correct me if I’m wrong. They may also use one of them being such an unbusy time of the year for package holidays.

As I said in an earlier post, it’s going to be a 757, I’m about 80% sure.

    Hi,

Being a regular Britannia passenger myself and having done a similar sort of European flight before… I am pretty sure it is a 757, dunno what series though!

The easiest option would be to make up some poor excuse and just not do it at all! 🙂

Seriously… Frontpage Express is available for download for free and is a more basic version of Frontpage. Does exactly the same job though!

    RE: Air-side Passes

You wouldn’t need an airside pass at Heathrow, just smuggle yourself in somehow. If the people that stole all those ££ millions the other day can do it, anyone can!

    Sorry…

…just been swotting up on BBC’s website. Ignore what I said about Go as I wasn’t aware BA had sold the lo-cost airline for £100m!

They can afford to keep their staff it’s just that apparently they need to make much more profit than they are making at the moment.

Obviously, taking 66% off of the price of a Concorde ticket has not worked!

    RE: LHR raided

Somebody else has already said that if these people responsible can do this, they are capable of doing anything!

Once into the airport complex with weapons, they could board an aircraft, pass weapons onto others boarding aircraft and it would be tragic.

All this fuss about extra security and we’re not even feeling safe because something like this happens.

I think they actually need extra security where the passengers can actually notice a difference.

On a recent flight from Heathrow, I was forced to take my wallet out of my back pocket (the sort that is divided into three) and some women opened it only slightly and then closed it again – the item was not put through thex-ray machine and was popped into the dish next to the metal detector.

Returning home from Barcelona, only one woman operated the x-ray and metal detecting machines. We were left to place our own stuff through the machine while she observed the screen. Let’s say I was a terrorist (which I’m not, I can assure you), this would have been the perfect opportunity to smuggle something through because there was nobody to see me walking through.

I must say, I feel for the extra £7 security tax we now pay, I am most displeased and would really like to know where this money is going because I have really not noticed a difference in the way passengers and their belongings are checked before boarding their aircraft.

RE: BA announces further 5800 job cuts

Once this operation has been carried out by 2004, it is believed that the 5,800 this year along with the 7,200 last year will mean that 1 quarter of the BA workforce is being made redundant.
