Except we’ve just proved that the ASRAAM has equal or better range.
You think that the targets in the rear hemisphere can’t be datalinked from AWACS, ground radar or other fighters for ASRAAM too? The difference is that the ASRAAM can do it without that help if need be, the MICA and Rafale can’t.
you proved nothing at all about range.
I’m just tired of all the drivel generated by the Francophiles on this forum. They made a half decent fighter but they’re making out that it’s some kind of super-fighter. It really is Sputnik/Voice Russia type crap, with an injection of garlic-tipped steroids.
Blah Blah… Ultra nationalistic/half racist rantings won’t change anything to reality… Thanks for bringing in Foodstuff lol. Really want an anglofrench comparison on THAT topic???
Can’t open link. What is sure is that Airbus factory in Poland (conversely to Sikorsky or Agusta Westland are not situated within new government voters zones…
how is this even possible?
Because it is safe with “B” type gearbox? Other types crash also…
Nope, it’s >25% longer ranged.

Unaware of the specific paragraphs you’re referring to.
First, MICA VL is not MICA and is vertically lauched. Dunno if CAMM is. Second, CAMM is not ASRAAM. Finally, you will not use (at all) the same flight profile in a ground to air interception an in a long range air to air intrception. I doubt trajectory of VL MICA and CAMM to be parabolic. But i may be wrong. For Justin Bronk, just read that : https://hushkit.net/2015/12/18/typhoon-versus-rafale-the-final-word/
PS you were right on one point, ranges stated by MBDA
Neither is stating 1/3rd of maximum range, or 60% of maximum speed.

Explain to me how, with a 10% increase in length over ASRAAM (circa 20% is actual fuel volume assuming half missile length is fuel) but otherwise identical, the CAMM suddenly became >25% longer-ranged than the MICA.
It is not longer ranged, it is said to go higher. Very different things. Btw, maybe you should explain JB that having wings do not mean you are shorter ranged because they create drag… He shows a pityful lack of knowledge here (and on long range flight profiles of missiles). I understand better why RUSI described him as “specialiZING” in aviation and not spcialIST… In his Eurofighter sponsored “analysis” (to be polite). Claiming a medium range missile to be unreliable past 20 Kms (see his article in Hush Kit aswell as comments) is simply laughable and rely on (i) eyeball in depth aerodynamic analysis (ii) complete ignorance on how missiles work.
The issue however is simply that we are all here biased China-fan-boys and as such soooooooo much unreliable. Even more there are reports that say it is 23m long, it is a dedicated striker like a F-111 and those must be correct.
Indeed, I ‘m again at the point of leaving the Kew-Forum, since – just look at this and the PAK-FA-thread – there are simply too many kids here, who not interested in facts, not interested in discussion and learning but simply on their own and bashing others opinion.
But hey … I’m biased !

We have a former engineer from Airbus on air-defense (owning a blog about china, “East Pendulum”) who lived a long time in China and still has good contacts there. They told him that J-20 is an air superiority asset that butchered J-10 during oppositions.
Do you really think the AIM-132 carries more fuel rocket despite the MICA being 27% heavier, or is that wishful thinking ?
Justin Bronk “analysis”…(my guess)
TBH, and (for once), thry cannot rely on an industrial complex for subcomponents so their company have to do everything from rough minerals. Not an easy task.
Nice try but the MMRCA’s conditions were spelled out in the RFP. Dassault’s ‘proposal’ to build it with Reliance was always a nonsensical non-starter.
Well.. Dassault’s the only one out there that’s led by a felon; usually CEOs resign in disgrace once convicted. In India, Boeing, LM, Saab, Airbus et al have all partnered with ‘normal’ engineering companies (Tata, Mahindra, L&T etc). That Dassault chose to partner with Reliance instead speaks volumes.
You’re right insofar as legality goes – Dassault’s hasn’t been indicted for any illegal business in India (investigation into the Dassault/DCNS-linked arms dealer is still ongoing). But then nobody’s asking for it to be prosecuted. What we’re actually doing is discussing the local production deal and how it may be used to spur the domestic industry.
Both Lockheed Martin and Saab have partnered with TASL (Tata), which will be able to use it to emerge as a true private sector alternative to HAL. Dassault meanwhile has signed a JV with Reliance, which will no doubt do an excellent job of rubber-stamping offset agreements and greasing the political wheels.
Excepy that Dassault group CEO is NOT Serge Dassault (who’s case was cancelled by european court btw). PS Dassault Aviation have nothing to do with DCNS. and you talk about BS? And -believe me or not- i checked and there IS an option clause.
India Unlikely To Buy Additional Rafale Fighter Jets, MoD Source Says
Absence of an optional clause? Not according to Jane’s
L1 status didn’t stand up to subsequent scrutiny because of the inclusion of ‘unpriced’ items that were later found to be exorbitantly expensive.
journo’s BS. Do you think ppl that declared Rafale L1 were stupid enough not to see that?
Wondering how a thread “can ECM pods reduce RCS” (btw proper question should be can ECM pods delay tracking or smthing like that) became “can HMD allow a shoot in rear hemisphere” (btw hard to do without breaking your own neck (looking rearwards while piloting).
