The facts are that the design origin of the Rafale is very firmly in the 1980’s. The Rafale A was not an unrelated aircraft.
The C and M that flew in 1991 must have been completely redesigned from January 1st, 1990, huh?All of this is very clear and obvious.

Nope i’m citing Bruno Revellin Falcoz, head of the program, in “Rafale confidential” picture. The whole plane was redesigned (partly due to EM discretion requirements) and “no shape is identical between A and C, despite apparent ressemblance”. The electronic suite was designe after Rafale A etc.
Rafale A was a “proof of concept” for delta close coupled canards and FBW system. It was way bigger than M and C (partly due to F 404 engines), had cranked delta etc. etc.

Except that Rafale A was a Tech demonstrator, there isn’t any common piece between Rafale A and First Rafale M F1 (which was itself a stop gap standard now undergoing retrofit).
