notice it is on a Typhoon screen 😉

Melbaa PEA seem to be underscore here, after all, dividing physically an AESA antenna and inferring GaN modues isn’t a big deal, is it?

Some interesting features in Talios pod, but first Thalès promotional picture :

entire decision chain coverage, directional los datalink. On F3R standard, pilot will be able to read and manipulate images (for ex. superimpose on ground maps) while the pod keeps acquiring. Capability to detect and track human/vehicles movements. ISR capability. But more original, Laser 3D imagery and long range Air to Air identification and targeting.

FCAS main missions are defined. SEAD/DEAD, deep penetration, INformation gathering.
Secondary : Air interdiction, CAS
Air defence MAYBE

I hope my memory did not betray me.

like that. Preparing an article explaining it aswell as data fusion screen

HMDS is integrated but not ordered. And no it cannot look around and see the aircraft.
MFD is specific on Rafale as it is collimated to infinite. Differnet concept.(but thi is not mfd)
The very pilot who shot this photo told me he fired a mica IR rearwards to a M2K RDI at 20 NMs (that is not what is shown on photo) using only passive sensors without link 16. He also spcified that DDM-NG played part of the game.
If you want a data fusion from MFD of Rafale here is one

Vnomad is referring to the ability of DAS working with all the other sensors to track and display the aircraft all around the F-35 (according to multiple reports this includes the ability to distinguish friend from foe right down to aircraft types), giving the pilot a critical advantage in closing the OODA loop in close range engagements. If you are coupling this with the aim-9x, or even the aim-120d, both of which allow high off-boresight shots, that is a significant advantage. Within 10 miles, IN my opinion (not a fact), I would think that firing first would be the deciding factor, not a minor difference in Pk considering modern aams would have a high energy state at such short distances

Definitely not unique to F-35, Rafale can do that (reported by test brazilian test pilot), Gripen Ng also will…

the F-35 is also getting the Meteor

Study ongoing, nothing sure yet as you would need to ply fins.

carry nor fire any missiles other than the AIM120 and the AIM9X

Can’t presently fire AIM9X from inner bays. 9X is rail launched (they’ll probably find a fix that will be more expensive than simply buying mica or other missile that do not decessarily need a rail).

About FACO facility, do not forget italians… Complex topic.

Check PM please.

Btw things are evolving very quickly atm. You can find at DARPA or ONERA, 5/10 micron pitch, some bicoulor etc.

Btw ULIS is more or less part of Sofradir.

than any other 640×480 starring sensor found on competitive aircraft

Errr concerning DDM-NG and without entering into details, you can guess a very significantly better sensor.

In what way? Give an example. Clearly is close enough to the Jane’s figure to be talking about the same thing but also enough higher to be noteworthy.

Lukos figure is right, capital cost and write-down arent included. However, technicians salaries etc. Are. The numbers are an average from 2009 to 2013, including planes in war operations in Afghanistan, Lybia, Mali etc.During war ops, planes fly more, so their maintenance schedule is different. If you’d stick to 200 hours /year, cost would be significantly lower (around 15000 $ by memory).
